Meet Victor and Julianne, better known as "The Real Finn and Rey." The cosplay couple reside in Utah and spend their free time portraying two very awesome characters from Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens. Victor and Julianne are set to get married in May and had their engagement photos done by Robert Lance Montgomery. They then decided to take their cosplay to the next level by putting together a photo shoot as Finn and Rey in the desert of Jakku. Okay, so it wasn't actually Jakku — the shoot took place south of Salt Lake City, Utah — but close enough, right?
Not only do they bear a striking resemblance to the on-screen duo, but they truly nailed the look by hand-making their costumes. Best of all, they have their own BB-8 or more appropriately named, Baby-8!
Photographer and fellow Star Wars fan, Robert Lance Montgomery added some behind the scenes details in his blog regarding the couple and Julianne's daughter, Addie.
The little astromech droid was such a trooper. There was wind, sun, and sand in the eyes, but she loved every minute of it! Planet Jakku wasn't an easy trip for what turned out to be an all-day photoshoot. Off-roading [in sedans] and severely misleading GPS systems left us feeling at times like Captain Solo without hyperdrive. But we made it, it was worth it, and we've got stories to tell. Oh yeah, and if you're looking for planet Jakku, it's actually located at the Little Sahara in central Utah.
You can follow this adorable family's adventures on their Facebook page, The Real Finn and Rey, as they get ready for their upcoming wedding. The couple has also set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for court fees as Victor is trying to adopt Addie so their family can become official. Also be sure to check out Robert Lance Montgomery's website to see all the photos from the shoot. A family that cosplays together, stays together!
