Deadpool just can't stop kicking ass. First the movie left the box office on the canvas, flattened by an astonishing haul of $758.8 million globally. Then it left critics stunned, earning an impressive 83 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Now, it appears even the ass kicking itself is giving an ass kicking, with the pivotal fight scene between the Merc with a Mouth and arch nemesis Ajax picking up the MTV Award for Best Fight.

Tim Miller's R-rated adaptation of Wade Wilson's alter ego was nominated for eight awards going into the ceremony, and critics were understandably pleased with the colossal showdown between Deadpool and the axe-wielding bad guy.

In true Deadpool style, amongst the heavy hooks and vicious kicks there was still time for some crude comedy relief, in the form of a knife-to-the-head-induced unicorn hallucination.

'There Were So Many People Involved'

Ryan Reynolds and Ed Skrein were on hand to collect their well earned prize, however while taking the podium, Skrein made an effort to highlight the work done by those behind the scenes. He said:

“We spent months on this and there were so many people involved. Me and Ryan are the faces of it as such but I wanted to bring up Phil Silvera who’s the fight co-ordinator. Those guys don’t always get the props they deserve.”

Reynolds then added his thanks to the writers of the movie:

“I wanna thank our brilliant screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who had me fighting another man in a burning building — nude."
