Last week, actress Kat Graham broke hearts when she revealed that she will be leaving her character Bonnie Bennett behind after the eighth season of The Vampire Diaries. Speaking exclusively about the end of her Mystic Falls journey, she said:
"Season 8 will be my last season. I just hope that whatever I do after, the crew can come with me. If the crew can come with me, then we'll be good. The crew is going to be the hardest thing to let go, because we are a family."
Now though — almost to the day since Nina Dobrev also made the announcement last year that she was bidding a fine farewell to the show that brought her fame — just like his ex-girlfriend, Ian Somerhalder appears to be also throwing in the towel.
The actor has spilled some vital The CW beans by stating that Season 8 will in fact be the show's last:
“We have decided to do one last season to really do the story justice."
Although it has yet to be confirmed whether or not this is truly the end, it is pretty much a given — considering that most of the main characters have been dropping like flies. That's not to say that the show's runners aren't going to give the final season their all. On Sunday, Somerhalder (who has also been directing some of the episodes) told fans:
"My role is shifting in the show and we have a lot to do."
Here's a clip of exactly what he said:
Are you sad to see Ian leave the show?
