S.H.I.E.L.D. picks up an emergency call about Daisy and finds the caller, who was shown a vision of his death by the Inhuman Charles Hinton, in time for him to learn Daisy's name before being murdered by Hydra, who capture Hinton. Daisy is able to touch Hinton first, giving her a vision of his death. Hive promises to reward Malick for sending Ward through the portal with "true power"; they use Hinton to obtain a powerful exoskeleton from a private corporation Transia. Desperate to prove that fate is not fixed, S.H.I.E.L.D. seeks to avoid Daisy's vision from playing out by sending May to find Hinton instead of her, as the vision showed, but at the last minute Garner arrives, stating that he wants to say goodbye to May before he transforms into Lash for good. Subsequently, Daisy goes to the Transia, where S.H.I.E.L.D. has tracked Hydra and Hinton. Coulson and the team see Ward on the security feed at Transia so he, Lincoln, Jemma and Fitz rush to rescue Daisy. May and Andrew make amends before he transforms into lash one last time. Daisy takes out most of Malick's men but is saved by Coulson from being shot. She faces Malick and his exoskeleton but is nearly beat to death. Hinton saves Johnson by distracting Malick, giving them both vision, with hers of a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent dying in space, while Malick's is unknown. Hinton then asks Daisy to watch after his daughter Robin which she promises to before dying himself. Malick calls Giyera shaken by what he saw in the vision but Giyera pledges his allegiance to Hive. Hive sends Giyera to a remote location to obtain and important piece of tech.
We need more Daisy using her powers. Actually we need to see more powers being used in general. We loved that almost one shot and there was plenty of ass kicking this episode. The training session was the highlight though. Bang.
Charles Hinton: An Inhuman with the ability to see the the fourth dimension. When he comes into physical contact with someone he can show them their future. It seems as if his touch is also a curse as he hasn't been able to stop the visions from happening. Until he met Daisy of course. He left his wife and daughter when he realized that he could never come into contact with them again as long as he had his powers.
Team S.H.I.E.L.D- They had a whole lot to deal with this episode. At first it was a mission to save Charles. Then they found out that Grant Ward was alive and then you have Andrew turning into Lash one last time. They read the vision all wrong though and it turned out that they would be the ones who needed saving, not Charles. The only one missing out on the fun was Mack, who had a pretty busy day last episode. It still feels weird without Bobbi and Hunter there, but they managed.
Coulson and Daisy- He was her over protective father this episode. He wanted her to sit this one out, but eventually let her do the op. He was shown shooting at her in the vision, but it turns out that he was actually saving her from being gatted in the face.
Coulson and May- He told her that she would regret not staying with Andrew before he went full Lash and he was right. These two have not only been their as field support for each other, but emotional support as well.
Coulson and Lincoln- Linc told Coulson that he was going to kill him if the vision came true about him shooting Daisy. Not such a smart idea threatening your boss though. It seems like they have established a mutual respect for one another and they got along more this episode.
Daisy and Hinton- She tried to save a fellow Inhuman from getting into Hydra's hands, but in the end it was Charles who saved her. He was finally able to make a difference with his visions. Good man. We are wondering if his daughter, whom he asked Daisy to watch over, is an Inhuman as well. Should be interesting to see how that all plays out.
Daisy and May- There was a little tension between the two. May even snapped at her over the whole Andrew fiasco. Daisy may have the edge with powers, but May has proved time and time again she can handle things. It would have been cool to see how she would have handled the mission instead of Daisy.
May and Andrew- They obviously still love each other, but this Beauty and the Beast story is a lot more tragic. He informed her that Lash was killing off other Inhumans for a much bigger cause. And it looks like we know what that is. The Tarzan hand thing leading up to the last transformation hurt, but Lash could prove to be an asset to the team down the line.
May and Jemma- They worked so hard to find Andrew and he just walks in. Jemma still tried to convince her to try the cure that she and Fitz made, which she did, but to no avail. At least she tried and that's what matters.
Fitz and Jemma- We love that even though Fitz has this hardwired way of thinking that you can't change the future, you've got Jemma there to try to convince him other wise. With all the messed up stuff that happened in the episode, we needed that one sort of happy scene with them holding hands. Can they stop being weird and make it official already.
Hive and Malick- Hive showed Malick what true power really was, getting him to kill another man. It sucks that he is probably going to be killed by him soon, especially since his head of security, Giyera, has chosen to be Hive's right hand man. He may have bitten off more than he could chew bring back this evil Inhuman.
Charles Hinton- He was a British mathematician and writer of science fiction works titled Scientific Romances. He was interested in higher dimensions, particularly the fourth dimension. He is known for coining the word "tesseract" and for his work on methods of visualizing the geometry of higher dimensions. This is exactly what Fitz was talking about. They sort of have some physical similarities.
Terminator- Coulson talked to Lincoln about them living the plot to the movie and said he was off the team when Lincoln said he never saw the movie.
Transia- Is a fictional European country on the Earth of the Marvel Universe. Within the Marvel Universe, Transia (and/or Mt. Wundagore) is where Chthon is imprisoned, and where the men of the Russoff line were afflicted with the curse of lycanthropy. It is used as the birthplace of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch. It is the base of operations for the High Evolutionary, and the source of the "radioactive clay" used by the Puppet Master.
What's To Come/Theories:
It looks like we are going to finally see HIVE's true form in next week's 'Lost in Paradise'. Now that the team knows that Grant Ward has been taken over by something they may have to turn to an unlikely ally. Lash. Our theory was that he was killing off Inhumans to make sure that they wouldn't be used by HIVE in his grand plan to wreck havoc on the earth. Another crazy out there theory that we came up with is that HIVE may be the MCU version of the High Evolutionary. An amalgamation of the two. The company Transia is also the name of the country where the High Evolutionary experimented on beings such as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. What if the piece of tech they are looking for is to create more Inhumans or gain control over them? Just something to think about. We're are also hoping for a Civil War tie which we will keep asking for until we see it happen.
They are finally gearing up to the big battle between Daisy's Secret Warriors and Hive. We haven't seen the team in action together just yet but we are sure that it will all be worth the wait. This episode had all the ass kicking and feels we could ask for, but our team didn't exactly emerge as victorious this time. Another solid one for the books. 'Spacetime' gets 9.8 Inhumans out out of 10. What did you think about the episode? Leave it in the comments now we'd love to read them!
