The fifth installment in the vampiric Underworld series is underway with a deliciously gory name announced yesterday of Blood Wars.

The action horror will be directed by Anna Foerster and Cory Goodman. It follows in the wake of 2012 movie Underworld: Awakening, building on its $160 million box office success through recasting Kate Beckinsale as the Death Dealer named Selene.

Joining Beckinsale will be Theo James (also of Underworld: Awakening) as Selena's ally David, Tobias Menzies (Outlander) as Lycan leader Marius, Lara Pulver (Sherlock) as an ambitious Vampire, and Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as Vampire elder Thomas.

Taking over for Måns Mårlind as director will be Anna Foerster. German-born American Foerster is best known for her cinematography with jaw-dropping visual effects of Independence Day (1996), Alien: Resurrection, The Day After Tomorrow, and Godzilla. She has directed episodes of Criminal Minds and Outlander.

The screenplay of Blood Wars was written by Cory Goodman, who has worked on The Last Witch, Hunter, and Priest. Filming took place from October to December last year in Prague, Czech Republic.
