The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a monumental beast. With combined box office receipts of over $3.5 billion since it launched with Iron Man in 2008, the latest offering, Captain America: Civil War, is anticipated to follow the successful trend.
One of the biggest talking points of the thirteenth installment has been the inclusion of Spider-Man. The much anticipated arrival of the Marvel favorite — who was cast aside previously due to Sony's ownership — lies in the web-slinging hands of British actor Tom Holland.
'It Was Pretty Terrifying'
At the tender age of 19-years-old, taking on one of the most iconic roles in cinema in an ensemble movie starring the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johansson was understandably unnerving. In an interview at the premiere of Civil War, Holland explained:
"At first it was pretty terrifying, but as you know Marvel are a powerhouse, they have the best in the business in every stage of the film. I was in such good hands, working with Robert and Chris, they were with me every step of the way."
As well as his high profile entrance into the world of the Avengers, Holland will don the red and blue in a Spidey solo movie, recently announced as Spider-Man: Homecoming, to be released in 2017.
'I'm So Privileged'
Any apprehension about taking on the role would've been offset by the fact that Holland himself is a huge Marvel fan. He spoke of his delight at becoming an integral part of the MCU. He added:
"I was a huge fan of Marvel for years and years before this became a possibility in my life. I'm so privileged. And [Civil War] is finally here! Now people can finally see it, and I’m so excited!"

The enthusiasm Holland has is contagious, and will hopefully spill over into the role, giving Peter Parker his much coveted childlike vigor. The early signs are certainly promising. He also earned a fine endorsement from Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, who believes this is the best Spidey of all time. He Tweeted:
The good news is, there's not long to wait until we get to finally see the end result. Captain America: Civil War is released on May 6th. That's less than a month! Yay!
