Black Adam is coming! The Rock announced by way of one of the wardrobe selections he made for the MTV Awards on Saturday.
Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a The Rock, donned a tee instantly recognisable to DC fans as the electric logo of the magic lightning bolt of none other than Black Adam.
Look how excited everyone is:
The 43-year-old actor had already acknowledged he was going to play the primary supervillain, who battles against Captain Marvel in upcoming Shazam!, back in September 2014, but this outfit is a clear signal he can't hold back his excitement about the project.
Shazam! is a collaboration between Warner Bros. and DC. There's not a huge amount of information about it now, but hopefully The Rock will gift us some more t-shirt teasers soon.
Johnson has previously shown off his passion for comic books by expressing an interest in playing Luke Cage or Namor.
Black Adam in the comics is depicted as a corrupt ancient Egyptian predecessor of Cpt. Marvel, hence the shared bolt outfit, who has journeyed to the modern era to challenge the hero. Since the 21st century, writers Jerry Ordway, Geoff Johns, and David S. Goyer have refined the definition of his motive as being an attempt to clear his name.
'Shazam!' has a tentative release date of 5 April 2019.
