Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 Introduction

"I Open At The Close" to the facts about what we already know about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1: There are 7 horcruxes, Harry found out that Dumbledore has a brother, Snape is the new Headmaster at Hogwarts, The Sword of Gryffindor is impregnated with Basilisk venom, R.A.B stands for Regulus Arcturus Black which is Sirius Black's brother, the Deathly Hallows are based on 3 brothers that received gifts from Death, and The Deathly Hallows symbol stands for: The Cloak of Invisibility, The Ressurrection Stone and The Elder Wand together they make the Deathly Hallows. So now here are some more interesting facts that we probably didn't know about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.

1. Seven Harry's

Filming the "Seven Harry's" scene was complicated to do that Daniel Radcliffe did over 90 takes for just a single shot.

2. Obliviate

In the opening of the film, when Hermione is called down for tea, we can hear her parents talking about Australia. This is a reference to the book, in which Hermione says that not only did she wiped herself from her parents memories, but she also gave them new identities and made them think they'd love nothing more than to move to Australia.

3. Ollivander and Dobby

John Hurt as Ollivander returns in this film after 9 years since Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and Toby Jones as Dobby also returns in this film after 8 years since Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. John Hurt is the 1st longest years and Toby Jones is the 2nd longest for returning in the Harry Potter series.

4. Professor McGonagall and Mr. Filch

This is the only film that doesn't show Maggie Smith as Professor McGonagall and David Bradley as Argus Filch.

5. J.K Rowling

This is the first Harry Potter film in the series to have J.K Rowling as the producer.

6. Harry and Hermione Dancing

The dance scene between Hermione and Harry was written exclusively for the film and didn't feature in the novel.

7. The Deathly Hallows

The unnamed characters in the Deathly Hallows story each has a parallel character in the film, the Three Brothers each received a gift from Death. The First Brother seeks for the wand that will win any duel, Voldemort ultimately ends up seeking the same wand spoken of in the story which is the Elder Wand. The Second Brother wants the Resurrection Stone to bring back a woman he loved, Snape loved Lily Potter and seeks through the series to redeem himself for having caused her death. The Third Brother seeks only to hide from Death with the Invisibility Cloak, which he ultimately gives up to accept his own mortality, then Death and the Third Brother meet as equals, Harry inherits the Invisibility Cloak from his Father, but ultimately gives himself up to be killed voluntarily. Between life and death, Harry meets Dumbledore at King's Cross Station, like Death, Dumbledore himself has at one point been in possession of all the 3 hallows. Mr. Lovegood speculates that the Three Brothers in the story were actually, or at least based on the Three Peverell Brothers. Harry's Invisibility Cloak is in fact the very one spoken of in the tale, and The Resurrection Stone is set inside the ring which is a family heirloom, which Voldemort stole from his Uncle Morfin after killing his Father, Grandmother and Grandfather.

8. Harry and Hermione Used Polyjuice Potion?

While in Godric's Hollow, Hermione says to Harry that she still thinks they should have used Polyjuice Potion, although in the book they did use Polyjuice Potion and they appeared to be a Middle Aged couple.

9. Hogwarts Lake

This is the only Harry Potter film that doesn't show Hogwarts although the Hogwarts Lake does appear in the final scene when Voldemort takes the Elder Wand from Dumbledore's grave.

10. The Word "Mudblood" on Hermione's Arm

Having Bellatrix carve "mudblood" on Hermione's arm during the torture scene was not in the original script, but it was an idea that both Emma Watson and Helena Bonham Carter came up with together.

11. Mafalda Hopkirk

When the trio uses Polyjuice Potion to transform into Ministry workers while searching for the Slytherin locket, Hermione transforms into a woman named Mafalda Hopkirk. Mafalda Hopokirk is the witch who sent Harry the letter informing him of his expulsion from Hogwarts after he used the Patronus Charm in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

12. Dobby's First and Last Words

Dobby's last words are, "Harry Potter", which are also his first words he said when Harry meets Dobby in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

13. Hermione's Bedroom

Upon seeing the set of Hermione's bedroom, Emma Watson told the set decorators that there should be more books, which they happily accommodated.

14. How Long Was The Script of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?

According to David Heyman, the work print of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" was at 5.5 hours long, and the shooting script was close to 500 pages, which justified the decision to split the movie into two.
