Ever since Harley Quinn's origination in the 1992 Batman Animated Series, she's instantly become a fan-favorite character. Besides being insane, she's just a wacky, fun loving, and extremely dangerous person. The little bit we've seen of Margot Robbie's portrayal of Dr. Harleen Quinzel shows those exact traits, and she hasn't disappointed the fans yet.
During the recent CinemaCon, the extremely talented 25-year-old actress teased interviewers that her character's got a very important secret weapon, which comes from her background with psychiatry:
She's definitely one of the more unpredictable members of the squad. She also used to be a psychiatrist so she has an extensive knowledge of mental illnesses and how to manipulate people...I'm sorry, well, she has a lot of knowledge on how to profile people, pick their triggers, and as Harley Quinn she kind of utilizes that to just manipulate people and mess with them. And she definitely does that with the squad. She's always picking someone to be dissecting and playing off and messing with.
In an interview with the LA Times, Margot Robbie delved into the pretty sick relationship between Harley and the Joker, saying that he's quite abusive, and comic book accurate.
She's mad about him -- like, literally, mad. She's crazy. But she loves him. And it's a really unhealthy, dysfunctional relationship. But an addictive one.
Margot went on to tell the Hero Complex that she's even stolen a few things from the set.
I did take the jacket, and I did take the bat. I have it next to my bed, so if anyone breaks in I’ll be like, ‘nuh-uh!’
Suicide Squad will smack audiences in theaters August 5th.
