These last couple weekends have been a bit slow at the box office, but thanks to three new nationwide releases looking to make solid debuts, it should really pick back up. Here are the predictions for the weekend.

1. The Jungle Book

The obvious choice for the top spot is Disney remake The Jungle Book. Live action remakes of animated classics have not received the highest praise lately, but so far, the early reactions for The Jungle Book are very positive. This is going to lead to a very big opening weekend. I am predicting one in the low to mid $80 millions.

2. Barbershop: The Next Cut

The second place is likely to be occupied by the fourth Barbershop installment. The film looks pretty funny and a lot of people seem to be aware of it. Also, Ice Cube's star power has risen since the last installment in 2004. It should open in the mid to high $20 millions.

3. Criminal

Criminal looks like it can put up solid numbers in third place. The action department is pretty desolate since Hardcore Henry didn't do the trick last weekend. A strong casting lineup may help here. Plus, it has made a solid marketing effort lately. An opening in the low to mid $10 millions seems likely.

4. The Boss

In fourth should be comedy holdover, The Boss. It received weak reviews and is likely to take a fairly steep drop which I predict will put it between $12 and $13 million for the weekend.

5. Batman Vs. Superman

In fifth place should be Batman Vs. Superman. There is little to elaborate on here, but it is likely to continue its steep decline, because tons of people know by now that it is a disaster. It should earn a little over $10 million this weekend, but this is the last weekend we are likely to find it in the top 5.

Here are my official predictions for the weekend.

1. The Jungle Book: $81.6 million

2. Barbershop: The Next Cut: $25.2 million

3. Criminal: $14.3 million

4. The Boss: $12.4 million (-47%)

5. Batman Vs. Superman: $10.9 million (-54%)
