The next casting announcement for the reboot of The Tick certainly ticks all the boxes; joining Peter Serafinowicz in the pilot will be Jackie Earle Haley, who'll star as a villain in the latest adaptation of Ben Edlund's comic book.

Haley, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Little Children, will play The Terror, a wrinkled, ageing yet incredibly evil nemesis of the titular character, and a powerful villain to boot.

Third Time Lucky?

First appearing in 1987, the comic focuses on The Tick, a eccentric superhero who escaped a mental hospital to start fighting crime. The comic is largely a spoof of the traditional superhero genre, with many characters serving as parodies to famous comic book creations.

Following an animated series that ran between 1994 and 1996, the original live-action series was released in 2001, starring Patrick Warburton in the lead role. The show only lasted one season, but has a cult following.

The Dark Tower

Involvement in the Amazon pilot bulks up an already hectic schedule for Haley; the 54-year-old will appear in the upcoming Preacher series, and he is also in negotiations to appear in The Dark Tower, a Stephen King adaption starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey.

Are you a fan of the comic or the original series?
