It's all so romantic when actors passionately make out in a movie. Sometimes the kiss is hot, and sometimes we're bawling our eyes out. But in the end we have to snap back to reality and admit that it all happened within the safe boundaries of the movie set. Does the chemistry still work once the kiss is live and without second takes?
Judging from the five smoochers below, it totally does. These MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss winners didn't take home the popcorn for no reason, and proved that they had what it takes as far as mouth-to-mouth action goes when they collected their award on stage.
Ahead are the five hottest, coolest Best Kiss Award moments that took place on the MTV stage.
5. Selma Blair & Sarah Michelle Gellar In 2000
Granted, we only got a little pursed-lips kiss at the end of their speeches, but the "my mom would be proud" jokes and lots of sexy hair flipping still make this an iconic moment for the Cruel Intentions winners.
4. Rebel Wilson & Adam DeVine In 2016
Just last week, the MTV Movie Awards crowned Rebel Wilson and Adam DeVine for their loving makeout session in Pitch Perfect 2. Obviously they recreated the moment on stage, working the floor until Wilson lost her shoes.
3. Will Ferrell & Sacha Baron Cohen In 2007
If, like me, you didn't know this happened, hold your breath and watch. I didn't think anyone could top Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger's Best Kiss for Brokeback Mountain, but these two comedic geniuses are getting it on!
2. Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson In 2009
Can you believe that the Twilight couple won Best Kiss three years in a row? It also took them three years to agree to kiss on stage, but this reenacting of Edward's frustrated vampire vibe is clearly just as good.
1. Rachel McAdams & Ryan Gosling In 2005
When The Notebook co-stars Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling jumped into each other's arms on stage, the world swore that no Best Kiss winners would ever be able to top their sexual aura — and so far no one did. McAdams takes off her jacket before running towards Gosling, who passionately grabs her hair, and this kiss is everything.
