When it was announced last spring that Bruce Timm, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill would be reuniting to bring us an animated adaptation of Alan Moore's The Killing Joke my one worry with the adaptation was tone.

Alan Moore's tale of a down on his luck comedian turned super villain is dark. Very dark. Can Timm recreate the feeling on screen that Moore captured within pages? We now have an idea that my worry was unfounded. The Killing Joke will be the first R-rated film in the DC animated universe.

Barbara Gordon tortured and maimed, midgets in bondage, carnival freaks and other Commissioner Gordon nightmare fuel will all be fair game. I for one can't wait.

Take a look at the trailer below if you haven't already. Take a look again even if you have. The level of detail incorporated in from the Moore book is as promising as the R rating.
