Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to start with the upcoming anticipated 'Civil War'. This is a look back at all the superhero films that made this possible.

Phase 1

Iron Man (May 2, 2008)

Iron Man started the craze with it's amazing non-stop action and amazing origin story line. Iron Man was one of the greatest (if not the greatest) superhero films ever created and fans couldn't get enough. The thought of even having 'The Avengers' at this point would have drove fans crazy. Oh totally did.

The Incredible Hulk (June 13, 2008)

The Hulk is back and better than ever. Though not as popular and critically acclaimed as 'Iron Man'; 'The Incredible Hulk' still proved he was worthy to be apart of the MCU. fans were even treated to the beginning set up to 'The Avengers'. This film really set in motion the phases of the MCU.

Iron Man 2 (May 7, 2010)

The highly awaited sequel finally showed us War Machine in all of his glory fighting side by side with Iron Man. The special effects were increased and so were the action sequences. Fans were finally treated to a franchise of 'Iron Man' films.

Thor (May 6, 2011)

The mighty god arrived onscreen in 2011 and shocked audiences with it's impressive special effects and action. The studio worked hard to fit the film in with it's tight schedule to lead up to The Avengers while producing a solid film. fans agree they did a pretty swell job.

Captain America: The First Avenger (July 22, 2011)

The final movie in Phase 1 stirred up so much excitement for the upcoming 'Avengers' film. We saw Red Skull and Cap beat up the Nazis. He finally will come to our time to fight with the greatest superheroes in the world. The first super soldier is a lot more than you think it is.

The Avengers (May 4, 2012)

Move over puny film attempts, here are 'The Avengers'! Fans could not wait to get to witness the above shot of all their favorite superheroes together at one moment. This film was one of the most anticipated films of the year and it definitely delivered. This cinematic venture even improved and breathed fresh life into one of the greatest super villains of it's time; Loki,

Phase 2

Iron Man 3 (May 3, 2013)

'Iron Man 3' brought audiences Iron Man's main threats through the eyes of The Mandarin. The movie was full of twists and turns and beautiful action. Iron Man builds an army of soldiers and saves the world once again. He truly is invincible.

Thor: The Dark World (November 8, 2013)

Marvel is starting to get dark and gritty with the start of 'Thor: The Dark World'. Thor is proving that he is a real part of the team and will save not only our world but his world as well. If that's not a hero than I don't know what is. Thor will always be the first superhero in the MCU that went toe to toe with The Hulk.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 4, 2014)

I just tasted a little bit of 'Civil War' didn't you? This movie shocked audiences of how good it was. 'First Avenger' was good but it was increased ten fold in it's sequel. We finally felt like Captain America was a bad ass you did not want to mess with. Oh hey...what's up Falcon.

Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1, 2014)

Chris Pratt is that you? Wait where did this amazing film come from? This unexpected treat came out of nowhere and had some fans stating that it is the greatest superhero films of all time. Thanos was a threat and fans got to see a serious yet hilarious side to a rather serious toned superhero genre.

Avengers: Age of Ultron (May 1, 2015)

So much happened in this movie that you kind of had to feel bad for the director. We saw one of The Avenger's greatest enemies from the comics come to life with two new additions to the team; Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Fans got to witness superhero vs superhero with Hulk and Iron Man. The film promised us upcoming Black Panther and more Thanos. The Avenger's are back baby.

Ant-Man (July 17, 2015)

Viewers expected for this film to be a huge disappointing and fans were shocked to find it was quite the opposite. Fast paced, fun action, and hilarious scenes make us excited to see Ant-Man join the battle for 'Civil War'. Get ready world, the little guys are here to make a stand.

Are you excited for Civil War?
