You can own an image of Miley doing a whole new kind of steamy and support charity at the same time with this philanthropic pop bonanza.
The 23-year-old star posted this Instagram last week, showing her unusually demure face blurred behind a misted pane.
The picture, which has scored over 276,000 likes from her 40.7 million followers, is accompanied by this message:
This limited edition portrait by bada$$ @marilynminter is available now at Artsy.net/mileyxmarilyn !! 100% of proceeds to go #plannedparenthood #standwithPP #mileyxmarilynsupportPP
For just $5,500 you can own a (slightly indistinct) print of Miley with the fairly large proportions of 61 × 40.6 cm. There are 50 editions available, plus 12 artist's proofs, so act fast if you want one!
The prints were made by Marilyn Mintner. Minter is a 68-year-old artist from New York who explores themes like the body, sexuality, and fashion. Her Artsy description reveals her aim with all the condensation:
Minter photographs body parts seen through panes of wet glass, captured from characteristically dynamic and provocative angles that suggest the seductive, disturbing nature of glamour.
If, like most people, you don't have thousands in cash to spare, you can buy a bit of Miley and support Planned Parenthood by purchasing a forthcoming Marc Jacobs t-shirt, which has promised to be "more risqué" than the print, for $60.
In an interview with Artsy, Mintner described why she wanted to work with Miley:
"She’s been famous since she was 11 and she’s a great artist, so she doesn’t care about making money—she wants to give back. She founded the Happy Hippie Foundation, which supports LGBTQ youth. She flies commercial because she’s conscious of her carbon footprint. Now she’s going to help us with Planned Parenthood."
Planned Parenthood helps to create women's sexual health clinics that assist with issues like birth control, abortions, and STDs. Miley has an impressive philanthropic track record, actively supporting approximately 39 charities.
Miley has previously worked with Marc Jacobs on a charity t-shirt campaign sporting a nude picture of her for skin cancer, in addition to a 2014 ad campaign. You could say her good-hearted ventures stick out a Miley.
Would you buy this picture if you had the cash?
