Calvin Klein didn't mince his words when he told interviewers that it was Kendall's Instagram followers, as opposed to her modeling prowess, that landed her a spot in the brand that he founded's campaign, and he isn't best pleased about it.

The infamous 73-year-old American fashion designer, who has left Calvin Klein under the creative control of Francisco Costa, told students at Savannah College of Art and Design that he finds the current climate of the fashion industry as a whole "disappointing," before setting his sights on Kendall Jenner.

Klein implied that Kendall was simply "famous for being famous" by responding to a question about his thoughts on the Kardashian Klan member's modeling career as follows:

"You know, I’m really not that familiar with it. I’m honestly not. I’m sure she’s a lovely young woman. It’s not the kind of thing I would have done, even today. Now, models are paid for how many followers they have. They’re booked not because they represent the essence of the designer, which is what I tried to do — they’re booked because of how many followers they have online. I don’t think that, long-term, is going to work. I don’t think that’s a great formula for success for the product you’re trying to sell."

As if bashing Kendall weren't enough, Klein also fired shots at Kim Kardashian for good measure by saying:

"If you take really exquisite photographs of the right people in the right clothes in the right location, and you put it online, that’s fine. Just putting any old clothes on Kim Kardashian, long-term, isn’t going to do a thing.”

Ouch!

While he threw more shade at Kendall than a concrete gazebo, Klein was a lot more forgiving of Bieber's suitability for the Calvin Klein brand. When asked what he thought of Justin's ads, he replied:

"I think they’re very good. So many people wanted to be on a billboard or in an ad or in a commercial, and for sure Justin Bieber wanted to do it. I thought that was really good.”

Who knew that Beliebers could be in their 70s these days?!

Do you agree with Calvin Klein's comments about Kendall Jenner?
