Daredevil's Rosario Dawson was arrested and released on Friday, April 15th during a Democracy Spring protest in Washington, D.C. The actress was amongst 400 demonstrators arrested for participating in the protest that challenges political corruption.
Calling for one person, one vote, Dawson, who you may be more familiar with as Claire Temple of Hell's Kitchen on Marvel/Netflix's Daredevil, spoke of shedding light on money in politics and thus equalizing what she calls a distorted system.
Carrying a sign saying “Overturned Citizens United," and sporting a leather jacket painted with Bernie Sanders's face, Dawson was arrested and fined $50 for “crowding, obstructing, or incommoding,” after being warned "several times," to not cross police lines during the rally.
She told The Young Turks:
“This is a tremendous issue and I’m grateful that I could be here and be a part of it.”
“I wanted for me personally to be in solidarity with the other folks who put themselves on the line and just to bring attention to this. We’re putting ourselves on the line for what a lot of people across America and across the planet really want to be able to see happen in America, which is one person one vote.”
You can watch her tell her story in the clip below:
This is not the first time Dawson has been arrested during a political rally. The 36-year-old actress was previously arrested when protesting against former U.S President, George W. Bush in 2004.
