"Everyone loves trailers. They are the most important and impactful part of a film campaign." — Evelyn Watters, Executive Director of the Golden Trailer Awards

It's true — we await the release of a trailer almost as much as we await new films. It's our sign of proof that an upcoming movie is more than just a rumor; that it's almost ready to fly onto the silver screen. Without trailers, how would we even know which new movies we wanted to see?

As the executive director of the Golden Trailer awards puts it:

“Everyone loves trailers. They are the most important and impactful part of a film campaign, and they now live well beyond the movie theaters and have become the most consistently popular content online.”

The Golden Trailer Awards seek to provide some of the recognition these short feats of cinematic marketing deserve. The categories are broken down by genre (action, comedy, documentary, etc.). There are categories for Most Original, Best Music, and Trashiest.

This year, poised for success in two categories is everybody's favorite foul-mouthed superhero, Deadpool. Deadpool 'Trailer B — Power Red' is nominated for Most Original and Best Music.

Remember how great it was?

Other nominees for most original trailer include Hail, Caesar!, Joy, and The Revenant. Mad Max: Fury Road and Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice are nominated in multiple categories, along with The Martian, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and many more.

Check out the full list of nominees, and tune in for the 17th Golden Trailer Awards on May 4.
