As we near the summer and all of its upcoming blockbuster movies, its time to look back on the dark side of early 2016,and by dark side I mean terrible, terrible movies.
Although we've been delighted to some great movies like Deadpool and Zootopia. Some movies were just downright horrible.
In this list, I'm going to countdown The Top 10 Shittiest Movies Of The Year So Far based on critical reviews and box office success!
Okay first of all let me start by saying, what the actual f***? Not only is this film NOT funny, its an embarrassment to the film industry.
Sorry for my little rant, anyways. Starring man candy Zac Efron and academy award winning Robert De Niro. Dirty Grandpa is about and uptight guy (Efron) is tricked into driving his grandfather (De Niro), a lecherous former Army Lieutenant-Colonel, to Florida for spring break.
SOUNDS HILARIOUS RIGHT? No. The film was panned due to its crude and awful humor. It has a approval score of 10% on Rotten Tomatoes.
However, the movie was a box-office success, cashing in 92.9 million dollars, not to shabby.
9-The Divergent Series: Allegiant
The threequel and the first part of the Divergent finale (thankfully). The movie stars the rising star that is Shailene Woodley and Theo James.
To begin with, the movie does not require any need for being split into two movies, it seems like a cheap way to earn money, which failed by the way as the movie cashed in only 148.2 million compared to the 110 million dollar budget.
Other than that, like all of its predecessors the movie was hated by the critics with only 12% of approval. According to one reviewer "Allegiant improves on previous entries in The Divergent Series on a few superficial levels, but they aren't enough to counteract a sense of growing boredom with a franchise that's gone on too long"
8-Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
Like every zombie movie, this one is also a predictable one. However, it is creative.
Thats about it. The movie delivers a couple of fun moments, but ultimately falls flat. Its just repetition and dullness over and over.
So in short, the movie was mediocre scoring reviews like C on the AV Club, and 42% approval rate.
Mediocrity however, couldn't save Pride and Prejudice and Zombies from being a box office bomb, cashing in only 16.4 MILLION DOLLARS. Ouch.
Its actually shocking to know that this was a Zoolander sequel, because it lacks everything that Zoolander 1 was so good at.
Basically what happens is that Derek and Hansel are lured into modeling again, in Rome, where they find themselves the target of a sinister conspiracy.
The movie has some? funny moments, but its mostly cringe worthy scenes all out. The original Zoolander wasn't a dumb film, in fact it was a really clever comedy that centered around a dumb character. Zoolander 2 is a dumb movie around a dumb character. In short, everything about is stupid
Unsurprisingly the movie got horrible reviews, and horrible cash. With 56 million box office success compared to a 50 million dollar budget.
In TRIPLE 9, a crew of dirty cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist. The only way to pull it off is to manufacture a 999, police code for "officer down". Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack, triggering a breakneck, action-packed finale filled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.
So um the premise is...eh? Whats special about Triple 9 is its cast. I mean the cast is really, really good. Starring Casey Affleck,Aaron Paul,Gal Gadot, Norman Reedus, and even Kate Winslet.
Reviews were alright, but whats really disappointing about Triple 9 is how well it did. It barely,BARELY succeeded the budget with only 20.1 million dollar box-office. :(
In attempt from Natalie Dormer to further her film career sadly falls flat. Not because of her though, its because the movie doesn't make any,any sense at all.
The movie follows Dormer as she searches for her twin sister in a jump forest where people go to commit suicide. Stupid? Hell yes.
More of a pyschological thriller than a horror movie, The Forest follows the same steps like any other "horror" movie, plot holes and predictable jump scares.
The only thing about this movie was Natalie Dormer, who tried all her efforts to make it good, but failed to do so.
The box office was meh. Scoring 37.6 million dollars, its the reviews that sucked, getting 9% approval rate.
Now i know this was a limited released movie. But still, who even made this movie? Like its so terrible, the movie fails to deliver on every aspect. Its a cheap thrillers. No wait, its a cheap DVD thriller. Allow me to elaborate more by saying its almost the same level as those WWE Action Movies, just ugh.
Its more sad when you discover that the cast members used to be well known actors and actresses, im talking about Josh Duhamel, and Malin Akerman. Poor souls
As for the box office, just...its a mess. It got only 938,744. But the movie was made for DVD then again, so whatever.
3-The Perfect Match
Honestly, when will Hollywood learn that these romance movies don't work? They're dull, cheesy, and repetitive.
The Perfect Match is another product of these movies. The movie follows the same formula, boy meets girl, they fall in love, they fight, and they fall inlove again.
Reviews were the predictable 29% approval rate. The box office was terrible, scoring 9 million dollars.
2-Gods of Egypt
One of Gerard Butler's "action" movies, Gods of Egypt barely lives up to its name.
If you think the name of the movie is cheesy, wait till you hear the plot.
Mortal hero Bek teams with the god Horus in an alliance against Set, the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt's throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict.
Apparently its inspired by "ANCIENT EGYPT" Which caused major controversy due it having nothing to do with old Egypt (Shocking).
The failure doesnt end here though! The movie NEVER surpassed the budget. Scoring 137 million dollars compared to the 140 million budget.
Gods of Egypt? more like Gods of Failure.
1-I Saw The Light
Its hard to believe that this is a Tom Hiddleson movie, because its so so so soooo shitty.
The movie is a biographical drama based on the country legend Hank Williams. Now Hiddleston does pull off the look. Thats about it. Even Elizabeth Olsen did a great job.
What im saying is, the cast members did a great job, its the writing that didnt. It barely focused on Hank William's career. It was mostly about his divorce and drug addiction. It never did justice to the great Hank Williams
The movie received mixed to negative reviews, and just BOMBED at the box office. I know ive been saying that for the previous movies, but I really do mean the movie SUCKED. It gathered only 1.5 million dollars.
I feel so bad for Hiddleston, thats worse than the time he got smashed by the Hulk.
So thats my list! Which movie do you think sucked the most? Answer down in our polls. If you have other thoughts, please express them down in the comment section! Thanks for reading!
