Hello, what have we here?

EA has released a slew of information on [Star Wars: Battlefront](tag:2684021)'s next expansion pack: Bespin! Slated for release in early June for season pass holders the expansion pack will take us back to the Cloud City of Bespin!

The official statement from EA states;

We’re taking players in and around Cloud City, with four new maps for all of our most popular modes. You’ll see AT-ATs in Cloud City, take to the skies in Fighter Squadron, and even spend time in a carbonite chamber. Of course, we’re also adding more blasters and Star Cards, a new game mode, and two new iconic characters we’re really excited about – Lando Calrissian and the cold-blooded bounty hunter, Dengar.

That's right! Lando Calrissian and Dengar will be coming to Star Wars: Battlefront as the new heroes for the Bespin DLC! Lando comes as no shock as he was the Baron Administrator of Cloud City so it makes sense for him to be added during this DLC. Dengar however, this comes as much of a shock as Nien Nunb in Outer Rim. Dengar made a minor appearance in Empire Strikes Back as one of the Bounty Hunters hired by Darth Vader to hunt Han Solo. Fans were demanding that Boskk be added during the Bespin DLC but looks like we have to wait for that! , EA have announced that two heroes will be introduced with each expansion pack! I sense Obi Wan and Chewie!

One thing to also note, for the official description for the Bespin DLC, the EA website states;

Star Wars™ Battlefront™ Bespin (Summer 2016) - It's hunt or be hunted in this action-packed experience set in the Cloud City of Bespin.

It's hunt or be hunted? Sounds like we will be getting a Bounty Hunter game mode! We do know that Bounty Hunters were to chase Han Solo to the Cloud City of Bespin in Empire Strikes Back, so makes sense that a Bounty Hunter mode would be made available to us!

As well as bringing Lando and Dengar, the Bespin DLC will bring AT-AT's to the streets of Cloud City! Don't ask me how they get them on a city in the sky! We will also be getting new maps for Fighter Squadron which sounds amazing! To be able to fly amongst the clouds of Cloud City would be stunning! We will also be seeing the infamous Carbonite chamber brought to another "popular" game mode. This makes me think that Heroes vs Villains or Blast will be receiving this map. They have also told us that we will be getting a new map that they are yet to announce. You know what that means? Bespin Platforms! Or at least I hope so, because that map was awesome in the original game!

As well as the heroes and new maps, Battlefront are looking to add more Star Cards and Blasters to the game! My guess is that Dengar's Valken-38 targeting rifle will be the new Blaster! The latest targeting rifle, the DLT 19x, was a huge disappointment for the fans so I hope Dice can create a very well balanced sniper!

More FREE content!

EA have announced that Battlefront will receive a HUGE free update in May! Possibly during May the 4th since that is Star Wars day. The official quote from EA reads;

  • New In-Game Events - more double score weekends, community missions and Special Login Events are coming for players to earn more experience, credits and items.
  • New Hutt Contracts - Unlock powerful Star Cards like the Berserker Trait, Bacta Bomb and Ion Neutralizer.
  • More New Content - We also have a couple of surprises in store that we know our fans have been looking for, especially those who have been clamoring for ways to have more options to enjoy Star Wars Battlefront offline. More to come soon.
  • Specific for May the 4th - In celebration of Star Wars™ Day we have cool activities planned that we’ll announce soon.

May the 4th looks to be the likely candidate for when we will be receiving this awesome update! While we will most likely be receiving various character skins, maps and Star Cards, it looks like we while finally be receiving a proper offline mode! Something that was sorely lacking from launch, Battlefront has never had a proper offline mode! Sure the missions were fun, but they got boring after a while, and once you completed it, you couldn't gain any more credits! That looks like it's about to change! This new offline content sounds like we will be able to play with bots! For those of you that don't know what bots are, it's basically replacing the players you would play online, with the computer! This is great for players who hate to play online, or just don't feel experienced enough!

Now the main talking point from this announcement is "Where on earth is Chewbacca!?" so let me explain. I believe Chewbacca will be released as FREE heroes! It's obvious that Obi Wan Kenobi will be the hero for the Death Star DLC, and if the mystery DLC for 2017 is in fact Rogue One, then you can expect Jyn Erso to be your new hero! So that leaves Chewie unable to join, unless you bring him in during a free update! Chewbacca is such an iconic character that making fans pay for him would be, as Tony Stark likes to put it, a dick move. So don't worry about Chewie just yet!

What do you guys think about this announcement? Do you like the new heroes? Would you rather someone else> Leave your thoughts in the comments below and I'll be sure to get back to you!

What is the mystery DLC?
