We are less than a couple of weeks away from the premiere of one of the biggest superhero movies of all time, [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409). The film, as many are calling it the Avengers 2.5, will be Marvel's first entry into its wild Phase 3. The tracking so far points towards Captain America: Civil War grossing 175 million domestically in its opening weekend. If the tracking indeed is correct then Captain America: Civil War will be the fifth highest opening of all time right behind Avengers: Age of Ultron ($191.3 million), Marvel's The Avengers ($207.4 million), Jurassic World ($208.8 million) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($248 million).

In this day and age, box office records seem to be getting broken at least two times a year and movies are doing better than expected. If Captain America: Civil War does indeed follow the same route, we could be looking at a 200 million opening weekend. It would definitely put it at the top of the box office for this year with its only competetion being [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice](tag:711870), which did 166 million in its opening weekend. It will be very interesting to see how Captain America: Civil War will do at the box office compared to Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. We all know that Batman and Superman are two of the most well known superheroes of all time so it was no surprise it did so well in its opening.

Captain America: Civil War, on the other hand, has eight years of movies behind it and is also bringing to life one of the more popular story lines in the comics. The film will pit the Avengers against one another with Team Cap and Team Iron Man which is pretty exciting to think of actually. This is one of the big allures to the movie with fans already taking sides and the promotion for it is heavily using this as well. It looks to me that Captain America: Civil War could be very well on its way to being the first movie in the billion dollar club this year.

If Captain America Civil War does indeed go on to make a billion dollars, it might prove to be a great year for Disney. So far Disney has two films that are doing very well at the box office. These first film is Zootopia that opened up to 75 million domestically and is well on its way to 900 million worldwide. The Jungle Book is another of Disney's that exceeded its 70 million opening expectation and went on to make over 100 million. I truly believe Captain America: Civil War will go on to break records and do amazing things at the box office.

Captain America Civil War Opens In Theaters May 6 2016.
