Just in case you forgot a reboot of Power Rangers was coming to cinemas in March 2017, here's our first look at the film's villain; Rita Repulsa, played by Elizabeth Banks.
The actress will star as the monstrous villain in the upcoming reboot directed by Dean Isrealite (Project Almanac) about a group of five teenagers with superhuman abilities who use their powers to save the world.
This version of Rita Repulsa is much lighter and sleeker than the original 1990's version.
“It’s definitely a modern and edgy re-imagining of the original Rita Repulsa,” Banks tells PEOPLE. “We wanted to give her a backstory that connects her to the new Rangers.”
Perhaps Rita will get her powers from the same place that the Power Rangers do, or she is instrumental in the group receiving their abilities. One thing is for certain, what Rita has her sights set on; “Obviously, first, world domination,” she tells PEOPLE. “I’ve never played a villain before, let alone an alien warrior.”
Power Rangers hits theaters on March 24th 2017.
