Fans of Faith and her glorious free running adventures are surely well aware that the second installment in the Mirror's Edge franchise, Catalyst, is due to be released a little over a month from now (May 24th, to be precise.) But, those folks at EA don't want to keep us in the dark for too long.

First off, the closed beta is on it's way.

Yep, as with almost every game recently, Mirror's Edge is holding a closed beta, running (geddit) for 5 days from April 22nd onward for "Frontrunners," and 23rd onward for anyone else who signed up. Beta participants will have access to a number of Main and Side missions, as well as being able to have a play around with many of the games new social features.

One of the key new features is the ability to leave markers in the game world for other players to find. Remember those courier bags you had to find in the first game? Well it's like that, except they're placed by other people. I guess this means we could organise an easter egg hunt with our gaming friends now?

Second, EA released the necessary PC requirements for the game.

And they are as follows:

MINIMUM:
OS: Windows 7 64-Bit (use the latest Service Pack)
CPU: Intel i3-3250 / AMD FX-6350. (Note: Mirror's Edge Catalyst requires at least 4 logical cores to run.)
RAM: 6 GB
Hard Drive: At least 25 GB of free space
Video: Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti 2GB or better / AMD Radeon R9 270x or better
Input: Keyboard and mouse, dual analog controller

RECOMMENDED:
OS: Windows 10 64-Bit (use the latest Service Pack)
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 at 3.4 GHz / AMD FX-8350 at 4.0 GHz
RAM: 16 GB
Hard drive: At least 25 GB of free space
Video: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB or better / AMD Radeon R9 280x 3GB or better
Input: Keyboard and mouse, dual analog controller

Of course, you'll probably need to update your video drivers as well. Also, EA haven't told us what kind of performance to expect, but those recommended settings are pretty high end so we should be in for something special.

And finally, this game looks /seriously/ cool.
