If this new photo tells us anything about the new Power Rangers film, it is that we are getting something completely re-imagined! For Elizabeth Banks, the role of Rita Repulsa is definitely something different for her as she has "never played the villain before." This incarnation of Rita Repulsa has a much more reptilian and alien feel which is a big departure from the original look of the character.
The tone of the new film is said to be much grittier than anything we've ever seen from the franchise. It is based on the original series The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers which was widely popular during the 90's. For those of us who grew up during that time, it brings back fond memories of awesome Halloween costumes and countless hours of transforming megazord action against putty patrol armies straight from our toy boxes! Ok yes, these references may seem a bit dated now but nevertheless, the new spin that Lionsgate and Saban are putting on the beloved characters of this story gives fans of the series much to look forward to and could excite a whole new generation of fans to get on board.
Power Rangers directed by Dean Israelite, is set for release on March 24, 2017 and also stars Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Becky G. as the Yellow Ranger, RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, and Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger.
