After Malick's father died in 1970, he left him and his brother Nathaniel to lead the "religious" side of Hydra, including periodically sending a sacrificial "traveler. The person is chosen at random from their family's inner circle and sent through the portal for Hive to inhabit until his return. Discovering that their father used a trick to never be chosen as a traveler, Gideon does the same, and Nathaniel is chosen. In the present, Gideon tells his daughter Stephanie of his vision: he saw his death at the hands of Hive. Daisy and Lincoln track down an untransitioned Inhuman named James with knowledge of Hive, who gives them an ancient Kree device after a breif struggle with them. While Coulson, Mack, May, Fitz and Jemma raid a Hydra base and capture Giyera, who is now loyal to Hive. After a brutal fight against May, she ultimately defeats him and they lock him in the ship. After finding that Hydra was experimenting on different bugs, Jemma comes to a conclusion that Hive is a parasite. Giyera escapes his captivity and takes control of their plane. He directs it to a Hydra base, with most of S.H.I.E.L.D. as his prisoners. Hive comes to the Malicks' house, and reveals to Gideon that he has Nathaniel's memories. Hive elects to not yet kill Gideon, but in punishment for his betrayal of Nathaniel instead murders Stephanie. Daisy and Lincoln decide to call the rest of the Secret Warriors to help them save their friends.
They absolutely need more bad ass scenes of Daisy and Lincoln using their powers in creative was like I'm this episode.
Nathaniel Malick: Gideons brother whom he loved very much. He was the emotional one of the two. Gideon betrayed his him and he was sent to be the new host of Hive. His memories are instilled in Hive and was able to exact his revenge on his brother.
James: An Inhuman who did not receive his abilities like the rest leaving him butter towards Jiayang and Lincoln. He seemed to have knowledge of Hive and had a Kree artifact in his possession.
Team S.H.I.E.L.D- No matter how hard they all try, Grant Ward just keeps coming back to make their lives hell. This time though, he is going to be a lot harder to put down. Coulson shouldn't be surprised, since he knows a little something about resurrection. Mack is back to help out, but things could not be weirder and we are sure he was wishing he had stayed home instead. Last op they were on together was the one where Bobbi and Hunter left. We're going to go cry now. Now they are all about to be in a fight for their lives, with Giyera bringing them to a Hydra base.
Coulson and Fitz- They are the only ones really know what went down at Maveth. Fitz tried to tell Coulson that it was the right call for him to kill Ward, but Coulson felt that because he did it out of anger, he doomed them all. That Ward won in the end because he had now become an unstoppable Inhuman.
Coulson and May- They always want to talk about their feelings with one another but at the same time they don't. Him with Ward and her with Andrew. They do however agree on one thing. Kill Grant Ward. Again. And for good.
Daisy,Lincoln and James- They went to go visit Lincoln's friend James, who was still pretty pissed that he didn't get his Inhuman abilities. We can see why though. Although they got what they came for, he did reveal something pretty dark about Lincoln's past, which caused the couple's relationship to be strained. Hopefully Lincoln lives up to the promise of never hurting Daisy, or even her friends.
Jemma, Fitz, Daisy and Mack- Guess who's back. Back again. Mack is back. Tell a friend. While Coulson was still trying to get a grasp on the fact that Ward had come back from the dead, they had to help figure out what the neck kind of Inhuman they were dealing with and what they found was more than disturbing. It was good to see the team all together though.
Hive and Malick- This was a pretty crazy revelation. Malick spent the whole episode trying not to get himself killed, which he achieved, but at a great price. Hive knew that Malick screwed his brother over and waited for the perfect moment to confront him about it. Bringing Hive back wasn't such a good idea now was it Gideon?
Malick and Stephanie- We thought she was going to play a much bigger part in Hive's plan but she got the death her father should have gotten. She gave her father strength to stand up to Hive, but that would prepare him for her demise. Even though he's a bad guy we felt sorry seeing that. He is still a father after all.
Gideon and Nathaniel- Til the end my ass. If he really loved his brother he would have jumped into the portal with him. Gideon did him dirty and it cost him Stephanie. This is why you treat your sibling with respect and not feed them to an immortal, evil Inhuman. Thing will not end well.
Malicks and Whitehall- He straight up called their father a pansy. Even though Gideon didn't want to believe it, Nathaniel had doubts about their father. He found out that Whitehall was telling the truth and that their father was a coward.
Infinity Stone- We've got two missing stones that complete the Infinity Gauntlet so why couldn't they bring it in on the show. Daisy stated it was Kree so we will have to see.
Paradise Lost- Turns out the Malick boys' father was hiding a stone with a notch in this book to avoid being the Traveler.
What's To Come/Theories:
Malick's a mess, Hive is killing people, Daisy and Lincoln are about to call the rest of Secret Warriors to help them save the team. Next week is going to be one hell of an episode that's for sure. In each season we've seen a major character die and this one will be no different. Once the team defeats Hive we will be saying our goodbyes to Brett Dalton aka Grant Ward aka Hive. As for who is going to die on Team S.H.I.E.L.D, we were thinking it could be Elena or Mack. When you the scene that they've played over and over of someone dead in space, it is revealed to be a S.H.I.E.L.D agent. We also see Elena's rosary floating about in the cock pit, so it's not looking too well for her. If we had to pick who was in there it would be Mack, Elena, or Joey. Now they could totally be throwing us off and that was a random S.H.I.E.L.D jacket floating around. Maybe Elena gave Mack or Joey the rosary for good luck. Maybe it is Elena herself meeting her demise. Or maybe, just maybe, Daisy saw that vision all wrong and it was Elena's severed arms on that ship. In the comics, In the comics both of her arms are severed by the Gorgon, and she is temporarily unable to remain active with the team. However, both arms are later replaced with prosthetics, and she returns to active duty Maybe Hive and Giyera do a number on her during battle and we see this play out. She's shown that is not afraid to sacrifice herself to save those she cares about and would explain the whole bloodied mess we see. Now, getting to the orb that Daisy and Lincoln obtain from James, we are pretty convinced that an Infinity Stone is in it or was in it. We are still missing two of them, so why shouldn't they be able to bring one in on the show.
Hive's plan to have the Inhumans take over the world is slowly coming together, with Team S.H.I.E.L.D. caught in the middle. We got to see more of Malick's story and while he and his brother grew up with Hydra, you can't help but feel sorry for the two. We've got the Secret Warriors assembling next week and it looks like someone isn't going to be making it out alive. We're beyond excited! What did you think about 'Paradise Lost'? Leave it in the comments below, we'd love to read them!
