We asked for an action packed season finale and we got it. The Supergirl and Martian Manhunter team up is what we've been wanting to see and it was awesome.
Team Supergirl- The team just keeps on getting bigger and bigger. Kara had some unlikely allies to help save the city from Myriad. Her mother came though to save Alex from killing her. Maxwell used his brain to help her locate Indigo and Non. Alex and Lucy got General Lane to release J'onn from being detained to help Kara. While Winn, Jimmy and Cat were her moral support.
The Danvers- Mama Danvers saved the day at beginning by making sure her kids didn't kill each other. Literally. They then told her that Jeremiah is still alive and at first Eliza didn't want to believe it. After everything they went through it must have felt good to know he wasn't gone, but also terrified to find out what really happened to him at Cadmus.
Kara and Alex- Alex tried to kill her sister no big deal. She redeemed herself when she flew a damn space ship to save her sister. Bad ass indeed. They had some pretty emotional scenes this episode and you can't help but feel the strength of the bond they have with one another. No messes with the Danver sisters. Nobody.
Kara and Winn- A much awaited thank you was due for Winn for all that he has done for her and he finally got it this episode. After an emotional thank you, Winn sort of screwed up the would have been goodbye had she died trying to save the word. The Redvine bit was still funny though. These two best friends have gone through a lot together and we are glad that things are better now.
Kara and Jimmy- After remembering the kiss they shared in the previous episode, before he and the rest of the world were turned into mindless drones, they needed time to talk about it. Things obviously got in the way and it nearly came to them not talking about it at all. In the end it looks like they became a couple though. Took a while, but they got there. Be good to her Jimmy.
Kara and J'onn- They've really come a long way since the start of all of this. We can see now that he was only trying to protect both her and her sister. We weren't sure of how much of the yelling we could have taken from the two at the start of the series. Kara took the news of him being a Martian particularly well and we finally got to see the two work together to really kick some butt.
Kara and Maxwell- Maxwell is an enigma. He's got the whole "I want to protect the world" attitude, but also did a lot of questionable things throughout the season. He did help Kara and the team in a very big way this episode, even telling her that he cared what would happen to her. He's okay for now, but Kara is going to have to keep a close eye on him.
Kara and Cat- Cat had all the respect for Supergirl, but wasn't as nice to Kira. We finally got to hear her call her by her actual name: Kara. We knew something changed when she said that. After working for her for two years, Kara finally got a promotion. Well deserved we say. The pay hasn't changed, but at least she's got a fancy new office. She proved to be a good spokesperson as Supergirl so maybe we might could see her in the field getting news.
Kara and Clark- We knew that this would be all about Supergirl, but to get a close up of Clark's feet is just not right. This is best shot we will ever get of the two together unfortunately. What would have been awesome would to have seen him personally thank her (not through IM or text) and just not show his face. Just her looking up with him smiling and hearing his voice. We still are hoping that Tom Welling would dawn the suit and cameo, even just once.
Alex and J'onn- Alex really ought to listen to J'onn more. She wouldn't have been put into that position if she just stayed with her mom and waited until the whole thing was over. But we also understand why she didn't want him to go alone. It would be like losing her father all over again. He kept good on his promise and made sure she didn't get killed.
Lucy and J'onn- She been more open minded about having aliens like Kara and J'onn protecting them from other threats. She even tried to convince her father that they weren't the enemies and that he needed to trust him.J'onn still defended her father actions by relating to him as a father himself. What a guy.
Lucy and Sam- That was pretty tough to hear from his daughter that he was pretty much being an asshole, but he needed to hear it. He is her father, but at the end of the day, she was right. That not trusting people like Kara and J'onn would lessen the amount of people to protect them from the real danger.
Alex and Maxwell- There is still something here between them. They held hands waiting for the world to end. If he wasn't such a two sided butt hole we would approve this.
Superman- All we got was the damn boots. Come on! Still, we'll take it.
Gwenyth Paltrow and Coldplay-They also exist on this earth. They are wizards.
Omegahedron- The Omegahedron is one of two great power-sources vital to Argo City. Along with its partner, the Alphahedron, the Omegahedron powers the entire city, its devices and provides its people with light, heat, air, and all the things necessary to survive. While on the surface the Omegahedron seems to create life, it only creates the appearance of life, a ‘fancy shadow of the real thing.’ Human science cannot explain how the Omegahedron works, in fact compared to our present technology it is indistinguishable from magic. However, based on close observation, the abilities listed below can be attributed to the device, though it may have additional powers we have yet to define. They are: to generate unlimited energy.to power devices on Earth such as cars, telephones, lights etc…to convert energy to matter, and matter to energy.convert one form of energy into another (potential energy into kinetic, etc. to re-arrange matter on a subatomic level.to manipulate and control human biology.to enable travel between dimensions.to manipulate all forms of energy such electricity, magnetism, light, gravity, etc. Maxwell got his hands on this this. Shiiiiiiiii........
Fort Rozz- Not really an Easter egg but damn look at the size of that thing.
5:52- About damn time we got another 52.
Working Girl- Something Kara and Cat to bond over. Some trivia for you. Calista Flockhart's husband Harrison Ford stars in the movie with Sigourney Weaver.
What's To Come/Theories:
Project Cadmus. Jeremiah Danvers. More Eliza Danvers. Cyborg Superman. Superboy. Powergirl. Krypto. Streaky the Cat. The Flash and the rest of the Arrowverse. They can make it happen if they just put their minds to it. The season did end on a good note for the most part, but there was a bit of a cliff hanger. People want to know who or what it was in the pod that crash landed. Kara's shocked reaction gives us the impression that she knows who it is in there. So let's theorize who it could be. It has to be someone or something that has ties to Krypton. So everyone mentioned above pretty much. It would be amazing to see Superboy introduced in some kind of way especially with Cadmus in the picture. Jeremiah could take the Cyborg Superman role or maybe Hank Henshaw didn't really die. If we don't get to see Superman, Krypto or Streaky the Cat, we may have some problems. Lobo was also mentioned to exist somewhere in the universe so it would be awesome to see Kara and J'onn having to deal with him. As for Kara and Jimmy. We'll be good with it as long as they don't Olicity it. You guys know what we mean. We're still pulling for Kara and Winn, but only time will tell. Alex and Lucy can stay their bad ass selves. Maxwell proved that he isn't all bad, but him taking the Omegahedron makes him a little shady. Could he use the tech to create his OMACs? We would definitely love to see that next. Let's get Season 2.
Let's get a second season going. Just with every superhero show, it takes time to grow. Supergirl has definitely had some pretty epic moments, falling off on just a few episodes, but is overall a solid show. The reveal of Hank Henshaw really being J'onn Jonz was the biggest highlight of them all and we can't wait to see them kick more ass with each other. Each and every character with the exception of Superman were interesting, although we would like to see them more developed. We like that they explored more than just the Fort Rozz aliens and that the addition of Project Cadmus opens up more doors to where this show can go. The producers have shown that they listen to the fans by including The Flash. We definitely want to see more adventures between these two. The show has so much potential to be so much greater and hopefully CBS goes forward giving it another season. We give Season 1 of Supergirl 9.6 Streaky the Cats out of 10! What did you think about this season of Supergirl? Leave it in the comments below, we'd love to read them!
