With Season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead in full swing, our West Coast-based group are once again in the open ocean after a short stop ashore. So far this season we've seen a desperate dash from an oncoming herd as LA was decimated, a close call from walkers in the ocean, and a hot pursuit from a mystery vessel. The characters are slowly changing as they learn to deal with this new world, but despite their best efforts undoubtedly some will die over the course of the season. But who?
Take a look at the predictions below, and let me know in the comments who you believe will die in Season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead:
There's a lot of teen angst in Chris, and in the middle of a zombie apocalypse I'm not sure that there's any place for it. After Chris spent much of Episode 1 sulking and being angry at his father over his mother's death, he blew off a little steam in Episode 2 when Seth showed him the best way to kill walkers.
On one hand, with the death of his mother Chris is quickly learning the brutal realities of this new world — something which probably also explains why he took so much pleasure in killing walkers. On the other hand, the young man needs to be careful that his new hobby and cockiness doesn't get him in trouble or he might follow his mom into the grave.
In Season 2, Episode 1 Alicia proved that she was a weak link after revealing the boat's location to a mystery man over the radio. Whether or not the vessel that pursued the Abigail came as a result of the information Alicia revealed, we're not sure, but it does seem likely.
Like Chris, Alicia is young and is obviously prone to making errors. Unfortunately, unlike Chris she doesn't yet understand how to properly kill walkers, and sadly making any sort of mistake during the apocalypse could easily cost her her life.
I personally really enjoy the character of Travis; I think he realistically shows how a regular person would react to a devastating apocalypse that came out of nowhere. After the final episode of Season 1 (when he brutally beat Andrew until Madison stepped in and stopped him) Travis has slowly shown that he's hardening himself and becoming a survivor. However he still has a long way to go, and Episode 2 showed that despite hardening his heart a little, he was still quick to trust strangers such as the Geary family. Luckily for Travis the Gearys were friendly, but sooner or later he might learn the hard way that not all are so welcoming.
Strand is a total mystery character — who is he and where exactly is he headed? Despite offering the group a great escape from LA, so far in Season 2 he's barely slept, and he's not making too many friends with his strict ways. Could this be the start of his downfall?
Strand is such a mystery that we could expect anything from him, and the internet has even started speculating that he might be involved with a Mexican drug cartel as a drug runner. While that's just a theory, whatever Strand's secret is I have no doubt that it'll only contribute to the likelihood of his death this season.
Compared to the rest of the characters, I feel as though we know the least about Ofelia. The daughter of two immigrants, it seems as though Ofelia has been overprotected for most of her life, and the situation now seems to be rather overwhelming to her. Not only is Ofelia dealing with a gunshot wound and the apocalypse, she's also found out her father used to carry out torture operations in El Salvador and just lost her mother. Damn! It would be no surprise to me if Ofelia either dies in Season 2, however I'm also still quietly hoping she rallies to become a total badass.
'Fear the Walking Dead' returns to AMC with 'Ouroboros' on Sunday, April 24.
