Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz have been BBFL since way before even Charlie's Angels, and they aren't afraid to shout about it. In the latest super-duper-sweet thing one said about the other, buddy Barrymore spoke in Good Housekeeping's May 2016 edition how dangerous Diaz is so loyal she'd get you out of jail. Kapow!
The two A-listers have been pals since they met as teenagers in LA around 25 years ago, and over the time have stuck by one another through thick and thin. I definitely don't have any friends, or family even, anywhere near as tight as these guys are. Seriously -- they are closer than objects appearing in wing mirrors. These inspirational quotes from each about the other show the golden extent of their undying bond.
Barrymore On Why Diaz Is A Fucking Hunny
10. On being Charlie's Angels together, told to Katie Couric in 2013:
"She was 16 and I was 14 when we became friends.
"We were both L.A. kids. I worked in a coffeehouse, and she was a model. I served her a coffee, and we had mutual friends, and we just knew each other from around town.
"So when we got older and our lives had taken very different directions, I called her up and said, 'I have this amazing idea. I know exactly how I wanna do it. It's Charlie's Angels. Come play with me!' And she said yes! And then we just went on some of the best years of our lives.'
9. On meeting Cameron Diaz without even a phone, told to Elle:
"We knew each other for years around Los Angeles. We'd see each other out and wave and say hi, but we didn't even have each other's phone numbers." [Two movies later] and "we spent every waking moment together for months and months-and years!"
8. How Diaz is a criminal mastermind who will bust you out of jail, told to Good Housekeeping:
“If you are in scary prison in the middle of nowhere, call Cameron. She’ll get you out. If you’re looking for the best dinner-cooking partner and watching- TV-on-the-couch friend, call her. If someone is in a medical situation, call her! She’s the most loyal, fierce, fun, cozy friend.”
7. On being si$terz 4 eva, told to Look in 2008.
"Cameron Diaz is one of the greatest friends anyone can ever have. She has so much love to give. We also support each other through the bad times. I've always felt like she's my big sister, but at the same time I know that sometimes I'm wiser and a bit less naive than she is."
6. On having mad respect for Diaz for being a secret hipster, told to Cosmopolitan in 2011:
"She's my sister, but we bro out and have crazy adventures. I always know that she is game. Most people don't know this, but she's very edgy.
"That has been a big part of our friendship, knowing that she will throw down at any time as well as that sisterly, cozy, nurturing love that we have."
Diaz On Why Barrymore Is A Heart Disguised As A Human:
5. On pulling the Barrymore wagon, told to Sirius XM:
"Everybody pulls the wagons around [for] our friends, whoever needs us at whatever point in time. Even if it's something that the public doesn’t know about. Internally were all going, 'OK, who needs us now?'"
4. On Drew having so much love for everyone she's turned into an actual heart, to InStyle in 2004:
"She has the most amazing heart. She is one of my closest girlfriends, but the way she loves the people around her is really special...
"She really loves on that level of just unconditional love. And her friends around her love her in that way as well. She is one big heart, Drew! She doesn't even wear it on her sleeve; it's like she is just a heart."
3. Diaz being more loyal than Lassie:
Diaz proved her friendship colors when she stopped saying things - in a telephone radio interview with KIIS 1065 last year when presenter Kyle brought up the "drug years" of Barrymore, Diaz responded acidly:
"I'm sure, Kyle, you've never been through a drug phase, have you? Or alcoholism or anything like that? Pretty clean; always did it right? Congratulations."
She hung up soon after. Daym.
Listen to a clip from the interview:
2. On how sistaz don't elope, told to Harper's Bazaar in 2014:
"Literally I said, 'That makes me want to vomit in my mouth.' That's like saying I am having sex with my sister. Are you crazy? I wouldn't even ménage with her!"
1. Diaz supports POO POO in all her endeavours:
Diaz posted this in 2014 with the caption:
"I am so proud of my dear sweet beautiful friend @drewbarrymore for spreading, finding, sharing and inspiring SO much love in the world.. That her book #finditineverything is on the New York Times Best Sellers List!!! CONGRATS POO POO!!"
