Finally, we have our first trailer for the fifth film in the Bourne series; Jason Bourne. Matt Damon returns to the franchise along with director Paul Greengrass who directed both The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum. Check out the trailer:

After being assumed dead by Treadstone, Jason Bourne returns. He remembers who he is, but Nicky (Julia Stiles) assures him that there's plenty more he doesn't know.

I'm a huge fan of the Bourne franchise, I'm one of the people who prefers it over the Bond franchise so obviously Jason Bourne is a highly anticipated film for me this Summer, and I've got to say I'm pretty happy with this first trailer. It brings us right back into the world of Bourne, of course lead by Matt Damon. You'll remember that Universal tried going a different route with the series in 2012 by introducing Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross in The Bourne Legacy, but fortunately for us, that plan didn't pan out, and Matt Damon is back in the title role along with director Paul Greengrass.

Both Damon and Greengrass previously stated that they'd only return to the series if the script was good enough so I have faith in the film. So far, the story doesn't look too complex, we see Jason Bourne return and then usual antics ensue with car chases, fist fights and avoiding Treadstone. But I imagine that's down to the trailer not revealing much. So far as the action goes; it looks great. I'm actually the rare fan who believes Doug Liman's The Bourne Identity was the strongest in the series, Greengrass' love for shaky cam didn't sit all too well with me despite me still loving his films and the action here does look similar, hopefully he won't go overboard.

The cast is fantastic; Matt Damon, Tommy Lee Jones, Julia Stiles, Alicia Vikander and Vincent Cassel all looks great. As a trailer, I think it's really strong, it's definitely upped my excitement for the film and I have an incredible amount of faith for it to be one of the standouts of the Summer season.
