Capcom's gleefully surreal (see Dead Rising 3: Super Ultra Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX) survival series has now spawned a second feature film, set to hit streaming service Crackle on June 20.
Dead Rising: Endgame is a direct sequel to last year's Dead Rising: Watchtower, and, according to the official synopsis, will drop us into the "zombie-infested quarantined zone of East Mission City where investigative reporter Chase Carter must stop a secret government conspiracy." Not much else about the plot is known, but if the first released still is anything to go by, this movie promises to stick to Dead Rising's winning formula: A near-limitless supply of undead flesh + homemade DIY weapons = a roaring good time.
Everything's better when it has nails in it
Returning cast members include Jesse Metcalfe as Chase Carter, Keegan Connor Tracy as camera operator, and the magnetic 24 President, Dennis Haysbert.
But Haysbert isn't the only lovable B-list talent signed on. Of all people, Billy Zane (Dead Calm, Titanic) will enter the blood-splattered playground as Rand, a smarmy scientist working for the government.
Although Dead Rising hasn't had as much cinematic success as Capcom's other adapted zombie franchise, Resident Evil, it's interesting to watch them experiment with smaller — in both budget and scope — projects. So expect that Dino Crisis Netflix series any day now.
Dead Rising: Endgame is set for release on June 20.
