Over the years Supergiant Games have been operating, their name has become a byword for truly memorable and beautiful games. For a first game, Bastion was an absolute treat. As was Transistor, which stands a wonderful and rare incredible sophomore title.
That's why the wheels of excitement are starting to roll after Supergiant's recent reveal of their third title, Pyre.
In Pyre, your task is to lead a party of exiles from varying lands through an ancient competition situated on a magical and dusty looking plain.
Here's an excerpt of the story from Supergiant themselves:
At the beginning of the game, your luck has almost run out when several masked wanderers find you and revive you from the brink. With your help, they seek to learn the truth about the Rites, a secretive competition through which the worthiest exiles can return home, absolved of their transgressions.
As you journey across the Downside in the wanderers' custom blackwagon, you'll meet a variety of characters of all shapes and sizes, and learn what's in store for each of them should they prevail in the Rites. Your actions will determine who returns to glory, and who remains in exile to the end of their days.
Pyre will be releasing on Steam and PlayStation 4 simultaneously in 2017, and is said to blend "fast, action-packed confrontations against rival groups of exiles" with tense, strategic decision-making, which should make for some very quick, sweat addled battles against other exiles.
Though not much has yet been mentioned regarding the Pyre's RPG system, you wouldn't be wrong in assuming your the members of your party will all have different abilities you can strengthen and then use when faced with different challenges.
What do you make of that?
Will you be joining Supergiant Games around the Pyre?
