My friends are sick of hearing my nerdy rants so I'll do them here.

To be perfectly honest, I do not know much about Captain Marvel. My first exposure to her was through an Avengers cartoon that I randomly turned on when it was on TV. I don't read many comics and for the longest time I just assumed Captain Marvel was this awesome blond chick who kicks ass with some serious powers.

When Marvel Studios released its Phase 3 slate, including Captain Marvel (2019), Kevin Feige told us that although many different people have been Captain Marvel, "this Captain Marvel's name is Carol Danvers." I (along with thousands of fans I'm sure) began to do research on Captain Marvel. Who is she? What is her history? What is she Captain of?

If you have those same questions, here is a video with some answers.

So Carol Danvers is Ms. Marvel and then Captain Marvel. She is essentially Marvel's newest answer to Wonder Women.

With the film now under three years away, set fro release in March 2019, preproduction must be set to begin soon if it has not already. Nicole Perlman & Meg LeFauve have been tapped to write the script, and now the only remaining questions at this point are who will be in the cast and who will direct the film.

The most important casting is that of Carol herself. Carol must be strong and sexy. powerful and intimidating, yet caring and nurturing. Captain Marvel will be one of the most powerful characters in the MCU, and the actress who embodies her must be able to portray all of those traits. To pull that off, Marvel needs one kickass actress.

Who Should Play Carol:

Let me just put this off the table:

No. Just no. Ronda Rousey has said that she would love to play this role. while Rousey is an insanely talented fighter and is stunningly beautiful, she is not a good actress. If you have seen any of her "work" (Furious 7, Entourage) you know what I mean.

There are so many amazing actresses in hollywood right now that we need someone who can not only carry their own movie, but could possibly lead the Avengers for years to come. Here are some real options:

Charlize Theron

Ms. Theron is probably my favorite working actresses in the business. Her filmography should be enough to convince anyone she can handle it. In last summers Mad Max: Fury Road her more or less leading role as Furiosa was captivating. She was so good as Queen Ravenna in Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), that they made a prequel/sequel, without Snow White. She is also an Oscar wining actress for her performance in Monster (2003), where she completely transformed. We have even seen her with superpowers in Hancock (2008) and she was such a badass. Just watch:

Come on. How epic would it be to see her throw down along side Iron Man and Thor. I think not only is she absolutely blond enough and beautiful enough, but she can be intimidating, caring, and a total badass. She has a natural gravitas that few actors in the business have mastered.

I think she would make a superb Carol Danvers, but thats just one guys opinion. here are a few other awesome choices:

Emily Blunt

Simply put, Emily Blunt is a badass. I mean have you seen Edge of Tomorrow (2014)?She is the lead ass kicker for most of that movie, playing a mentor to fuckin' Tom Cruise. In Sicario (2015) she showed her serious side and in The Five-Year Engagement (2012) she showed off her funny side, which is very important in Marvel. Emily would do a superb job as Carol.

Unfortunately Mrs. Blunt has said she doesn't want to commit to Marvel.

Natalie Dormer

Not signed in

Dormer is most well know for her roles in Game of Thrones and Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (2014) and Part 2 (2015). Although she starred in this years lackluster, The Forest, Dormer is a great actress. She has, in what I have seen of her work, always played very strong women. She could pull off Carol and damn would she kill it in that suit.

She was in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), but who cares. That was in the 1940's.

Katee Sackhoff

Now I don't know much about Ms. Sackhoff, but she was in Battlestar Galactica. She has a seriously dedicated fan base who swear that she is the definitive Carol Danvers. I'd would be curious to see.

Bryce Dallas Howard

On the press tour for Jurassic World in 2015, Dallas Howard said she would love to play Carol. She can be seen other movies like Spider-Man 3 (2007), Terminator: Salvation (2009), The Help (2011), and the Twilight Saga. Although she looks the part and she is a good actress, as can be seen in The Help, almost every movie she is in seems to suck, despite her good performances.

Mary Elizabeth Winestead

I love this girl. I wrote an article about 10 Cloverfield Lane and she was amazing in that. I compared her to Ripley from Alien. She is mostly known for her role in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2007) and she also played John McClane's daughter in Live Free or Die Hard (2007) and A Good Day to Die Hard (2013). She was also in a personal favorite of mine: Sky High (2005). She's got the acting chops and the action chops to play Carol. All she needs is a blond wig.

Gwendoline Christie

Brienne of Fuckin Tarth is the most badass woman on television. Christie, in inhabiting this misunderstood character has shown great strength and great sensitivity. She pulls off intimidating and comforting simultaneously. Besides her role in Game of Thrones, she had an insignificant role in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, to no fault of her own. Although Ms. Christie is not as classically beautiful as some people think superheroes should be, Christie is how someone with immense physical power might actually look. And do not get me wrong, Gwendoline Christie is stunning and in my opinion would be an amazing Carol Danvers.

Rebecca Ferguson

Not signed in

This girl can pull of an action scene. Like Mrs. Blunt she can keep up with Tom Cruise in a fight scene, no big deal. She was so awesome in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (2015) and besides a part in "The Rock's" Hercules (2014) she has not done much, but her IMDb page suggest she has a bright and busy future. She has the action chops to play Carol and all she needs is a blond wig to pull off the look.

Jennifer Lawrence

Sorry, I just really liked this picture.
Jennifer Lawrence is amazing, but she is Mystique in X-men so almost certainly won't happen.

Tell me what you think. Who should play Carol? Did you like my choices? Did I miss any good options? Comment and Vote below.
