There have always been movies that flummox pundits, yet are still very fun for moviegoers. This is exactly the case with [The Huntsman](tag:408861): Winter's War, a film that is being panned by critics and, from a critical sense, I can definitely understand why. It's far from a perfect movie, but it has a certain magic about it that makes it memorable.

With an iffy love story and a subpar narrative, I was prepared to not enjoy this one, but I was completely wrong. I instantly fell in love with the world of Winter's War and was fully immersed in it from the get-go. And here's why.

1. It Is Very Funny

Surprisingly, I found myself laughing for a good chunk of this movie. This comes mainly from the comedic chops of Rob Brydon and Nick Frost, who play dwarf brothers Gryff and Nion. They make the movie so much more lighthearted. In a universe where all these horrible things are happening, it's nice to see that humor has not yet flown the coop. Chris Hemsworth brings that Thor-like situational humor and the dynamic between he and Jessica Chastain make for some really hilarious moments.

2. The Acting Is Fantastic

Aside from Hemsworth and Chastain, the star-studded cast includes Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron. There is absolutely no way you won't enjoy these four interacting on screen. To every scene Hemsworth brings his always lovable charm, and Theron her intensity.

3. This Film Boasts Stunning Visuals

Even if you don't fall in love with the characters or find any humor, there is no denying that this film is visually stunning. The landscapes are breathtaking; little details such as mythical bugs and forrest creatures are an appealing feast for the eyes. The costumes, especially those of the two queens, are beautifully designed. Every little detail in this film only adds to its greatness.

4. The Action Is Well Choreographed

So many times in action movies we see the main characters just pummel anyone who comes their way, with little to no effort. But in Winter's War you feel as if the characters are really having to work to win their fight. Hemsworth's character is considerably built, but he still had difficulty taking down multiple people. It is rare that action scenes are so believable.

5. The Plot Is Unpredictable

As someone who knows nothing about the fairytales this story borrowed from, I was very surprised by how it panned out. The biggest plot point of Winter's Tale caught me completely by surprise. There was intrigue and mystery that had me desperate to know what would happened next.

'The Huntsman: Winter's War' Is Definitely Worth The Watch

Despite what critics say, I think most fans will enjoy this movie for what it is. It's a fun, action-packed fantasy-fest that should appeal to anyone who is a fan of the genre. Don't go in expecting an epic, battle-filled, Game of Thrones-style film, or you will be disappointed. Rather, anticipate a lighthearted, action-packed romp and you will be very happy!
