Last weekend, the box office saw a big surge thanks to The Jungle Book and (to a lesser degree) Barbershop: The Next Cut. This weekend looks to still be strong but not quite as much as there is only one new nationwide release that looks to open fairly strong but doesn't quite look to be a breakout hit. So here are my predictions for how this weekend will unfold.

1. The Jungle Book

Last weekend, Disney live action remake The Jungle Book exceeded even the highest of expectations and was the third film this year to open above $100 million. As an aside, I thought it was one of Disney's better live action remakes. I gave it an A. With the strong praise it is receiving, it is likely to not drop too hard. It should take the top spot again with ease. It will likely earn in the low to mid $60 millions this weekend.

2. The Huntsman: Winter's War

Back in 2012, Snow White and the Huntsman opened to $56.2 million and closed to $155.2 million. That film had mixed word of mouth. The prequel is here four years later, which seems too long to wait in between films. Also, early word of mouth is noticeably worse for this film. With those two factors combined, it should open significantly lower than the original. I am predicting an opening in the low to mid $30 millions.

3. Barbershop: The Next Cut

This Barbershop entry has been receiving strong reviews. With no new comedies entering the marketplace this weekend, it should have a light drop. I am expecting it to earn between $12 and $13 million this weekend.

4. Zootopia

Zootopia dropped 43.2% last weekend, which was its steepest drop yet. With one last weekend to itself before Ratchet and Clank comes out next weekend, it should have a very light drop. It will likely earn between $7 and $8 million this weekend.

5. The Boss

The Boss should take fifth place this weekend. Like Barbershop, it will face a light decline because there is nothing new to be offered in the comedy genre this weekend. This weekend, it should earn about $7 million.

Here are my predictions for the top 5 this weekend.

1. The Jungle Book: $63.9 million (-38%)

2. The Huntsman: Winter's War: $34.3 million

3. Barbershop: The Next Cut: $12.7 million (-37%)

4. Zootopia: $7.5 million (-7%)

5. The Boss: $7 million (-30%)
