Thank The Old Gods and the New! Even before the first episode of Season 6 airs on Sunday, HBO wants us to know that Game of Thrones is here to stay. If on the off chance you were worried that this season would be the show's last, then have no fear.

Although there was little doubt of this fact, it was confirmed by TVLine that the fantasy-adventure series was renewed for another year by HBO.

Based on the A Song of Ice and Fire novel series by George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones has taken the world by storm as one of the highest-rated and most-watched shows on television.

If the cast and crew are correct in their assessment of the upcoming season, the action and suspense shows little sign of slowing down. We only have to wait a few more days to finally know what has become of Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, Arya Stark and the rest of our favorite characters.

HBO also renewed its two sitcom series Veep and Silicon Valley for new seasons in 2017.

There is only one thing we say to cancellation: Not today.

'Game of Thrones' will return to HBO on Sunday.

Will you be tuning on Sunday night for 'Game of Thrones'?
