The Comic Professor

When Arrow kick started the DC Universe, there was one character we were pretty much sure we would never get to see on TV. We were even optimistic that we might get to see Batman or Superman in what has now become the "Flarrowverse" (although that has happened yet, and probably won't happen beacuse of Warner Brothers and their DCEU on the big screen, we're still keeping our fingers crossed). But never in our wildest dreams did we think that we'll get to see J'onn J'onzz a.k.a. the Martian Manhunter on television, simply because it's not logistically possible for a television network to pull off the CGI required to bring the character to life.

But Supergirl managed to bring the character to life. Kudos to CBS for that. Supergirl wasted no time in introducing the character, and we got to see the last surviving Martian make his TV debut, last December, after only six episodes of the first season.

Couple of episodes back, we got to see The Flash make an inter-network crossover (first of its kind) to Supergirl. And we learnt that The Flash and Arrow are set on an alternate universe from that of Supergirl's universe.

It has been made clear on a numerous occasions that Superman doesn't exist in the Flarrowverse. But that doesn't mean Kara Zor-El doesn't exist in that universe. The reason for which Kara takes up the Supergirl mantel is because of the existence of her cousin as Superman, who's already an established superhero on that earth. But the producers of the show had revealed that because Superman doesn't exist in the Flarrowverse, Kara could take the mantle of Power Girl on that earth. But nothing has been said about whether the Martian Manhunter exists on, the so called, Earth-1 of the DC TV Universe.

But last night's episode of DC's Legends of Tomorrow made us question ourselves,

Is Martian Manhunter going to be a part of Legends of Tomorrow Season 2?

Last night, in a scene that featured Sara and a younger Quentin Lance talking to each other, Quentin was caught saying,

"Spaceships? What next? Martians?"

Last month, it was revealed that Patrick J. Adams (Mike Ross on Suits) has been cast in a mysterious role for the finale of the show and it's been rumoured that he could also be a part of the second season. His character has been described as "beloved superhero from the DC canon" which has led many fans to speculate that he could end up playing Green Lantern or Booster Gold.

The producers of the show have various occasions metioned that the team of this team-up show would keep on changing from season to season. Rip Hunter would obviously be a constant leader of the team, simply because it's a show based on time-travel show and Rip's a time-master. But nothing yet has been revealed about which other characters would make the cut for season 2 or what other new characters would be joining the team. As of now, only Patrick J. Adams looks set to join Arthur Darvill (Rip Hunter) as either Booster Gold or Green Lantern.

But could there be room for J'onn J'onzz on the team? Did the writers reveal a potential future member of Team Legends in a coy way?
