The Comic Professor

An alleged casting call has hit the internet yesterday and it seems like casting is currently underway for The Flash standalone film which is set to hit theatres on March 16, 2018. The film will star Ezra Miller as Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash. But nothing yet has been released about who else could be a part of the movie and I'm talking about both the characters and the actors. While it might take a while to find out which actors would be joining Miller in the move, if the casting call is legitimate, we might have an idea about which five supporting characters might be joining Barry.

The casting call revealed the names of five characters. Here are the list of the supporting characters we might get to see in the movie in 2018:

1. Iris West

Described in the Casting Call as:

Iris West is described in the breakdown as having Christiane Amanpour’s brains and Carrie Bradshaw’s style. An overcaffinated doe. A reporter at The Central City Citizen. Actresses are currently testing for this part.

2. Eobard Thawne

Described in the Casting Call as:

Eobard Thawne is described in the breakdown as Central City’s Bill Gates. The smartest man in the room and he suffers from advanced degenerative disease like Stephen Hawking. Thawne is confined to a chair.

3. Fred Chyre

Described in the Casting Call as:

Fred Chyre is described in the breakdown as a gruff detective who first meets Barry at the scene of a crime. Now they’re colleagues and the closest thing Barry has to a friend. Chryre is investigating the unusual death of someone at Thawne Laboratories.

4. Len Snart

Described in the Casting Call as:

Len Snart is described in the breakdown as being ex-military and turns out to be working for Thawne. Have a feeling he is the muscle the way Anatoli Knyazev (aka the KGBEAST) was the muscle for Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

5. Jay Garrick

Described in the Casting Call as:

Jay Garrick is described in the breakdown as being a former Central University professor who was fired for fringe science, and was working on the speed force program. Supposedly his role is just a cameo.

Warner Brothers have repeatedly mentioned that they plan to go on different direction than the CW's The Flash. But if these characters are a part of the movie, I can't see how much different it would be from the show except for the fact that they are played by different actors. All these characters have played an important role on the show, except Fred Chyre, who has featured in only one episode. If the movie wants to take a different approach, giving us a different story only won't work. They need to charcters that we are less familiar with on the show, just the way the Spider-Man: Homecoming is doing and giving us characters that we haven't seen in the previous two franchises.

Let us know what you think. Would you like to see these characters in the movie? Or would you like to see fresh new characters?
