There's a lot I could talk about in regard to the new, final [X-Men: Apocalypse](tag:1194267) trailer that dropped today.

I could talk about Mystique stepping up and giving a few spine-chilling warnings about the war with Apocalypse. I could talk about Charles begging Erik, his friend and longtime foe, not to fight at the side of En Sabah Nur.

Psylocke looks baaaad!
Psylocke looks baaaad!

I could talk about the fact that the trailer is edited in a way that heavily implies Professor X is taken by Apocalypse, which is seemingly the trigger that presses Mystique's mission into action.

But none of that matters right now. Why? Because the trailer confirms that one thing we didn't dare to dream: Wolverine is back.

Holy shit. You don't need me to tell you that that's an absolute winner. Could Fox have been any cheekier? For 2 minutes and 20 seconds I truly believed that we'd been deceived, that Logan wasn't going to show up. But then this happened.

You knew it had to happen, guys.

Yup, I think it's fair to say that Apocalypse looks like the superhero movie of the year right now. We also got a super-tantalizing first look at the Four Horsemen flanking their leader, looking out across the Pyramids.

Apocalypse prepares to wreak havoc.
Apocalypse prepares to wreak havoc.

That is one gorgeous shot.

On a similar note, seeing our young mutants fighting together is giving me all the feels. Cyclops's laser vision versus Storm's ability to manipulate raw energy is quite the sight to behold.

And although she takes a back seat in this trailer, even a brief shot of Jean Grey suited and prepped for the fight, looking badass, had me hyped to the heavens, while Quicksilver quipping about how babies are made — and confirming that Magneto is his absent daddy — was everything I ever needed.

X-Men: Apocalypse arrives May 27th in the US. When you're done watching the trailer on loop, tell me...

Does Wolverine have what it takes to help the mutants win the war against Apocalypse?
