Even before the audience-splitting [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice](tag:711870) hit theaters, there has been a plethora of speculation as to what to expect from both Justice League films. With filming for Justice League Part One well underway, we will slowly learn more and more about this film, especially with its release just over a year and a half away. For instance, it has already been announced that Academy Award Winner J.K. Simmons and Academy Award Nominee Willem Dafoe have both joined the already large cast. With the cast additions, the DCEU's direction after Batman v Superman, and other subtle hints and rumors, there are a couple of comics that could be adapted to form what will be Justice League: Part One. Let's grab our capes and cowls and dive in!

Also, if you haven't seen BvS there will be SPOILERS BELOW so you have been warned.

Justice League: Origin

As we know now given the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as well as comments made by the director, Zack Snyder, Batman is on a quest to gather the extraordinary men and women of Earth in order to create what will become the Justice League. While BvS drew obvious inspiration from Frank Miller's iconic The Dark Knight Returns, there were also many New 52 inspired moments and easter eggs. For instance, just the announced line-up for what will become the Justice League is ripped straight from the New 52. On top of all of this, there were very obvious hints to Darkseid, his army, and the impending doom. With Darkseid, presumably, on his way to Earth, and Batman racing to form the Justice League, perhaps we will actually see a big-screen version of Justice League: Origin. Personally, if they go this route, I don't think we will see Darkseid on the ground fighting, but will instead see his parademons, Steppenwolf, and the Harpies. It would be after the defeat of these minions in Justice League: Part One that would set the stage for Darkseid's grand entrance in Justice League: Part Two.

Tower of Babel

Obviously, we won't be seeing Ra's al Ghul take advantage of Batman's contingency plans for his fellow Justice League members, but perhaps we will see the birth of this iconic storyline. Many had issues with the fact that Lex Luthor had already created emblems for each hero of the Justice League in his secret files on them. However, when I saw those files, the first thing my mind jumped to was Tower of Babel. While I don't think Batman will be outwardly trying to create plans to kill members he's recruiting, I do think Ben Affleck's Batman is smart enough to create plans to neutralize his fellow members just in case. BvS really set the stage for a Batman who takes power very seriously and is nervous about how power is used. I think we might be seeing a few more additions to those files Batman is now in possession of for each member.

Throne of Atlantis

Even with the obvious references to Darkseid, many believe that an adaptation of Throne of Atlantis could be what we are getting in Justice League: Part One. With El Mayimbe of Heroic Hollywood weighing in on the subject, he says his source is telling him that we should expect a war between the surface and Atlanteans. Also that there will be an added layer with the Amazonians having issues with the Atlanteans. Perhaps, while Batman tries to find Aquaman in order to recruit him, he employs the help of Wonder Woman. If the Amazonians are aware of Atlantis, she could know how and where to locate him. However, if Atlantis has ill will towards the surface world, we may be seeing Ocean Master or even Aquaman leading a war against the surface dwellers. This would easily expand the DCEU as well as cement Jason Momoa's Aquaman as a force to be reckoned with. On top of all of this, Henry Cavill even said,

"I'm looking forward to expanding on the DC Cinematic Universe, and finally getting a chance to open up that world. There's a thousand and one rich stories in there. I'm looking very, very forward to interacting with Aquaman, especially!"

Take that quote how you will, but perhaps Aquaman has a larger role in Justice League: Part One than we are being led to believe.

Wrap Up

Obviously, we don't know the exact direction of the DCEU with only two movies to go off of, and I'm sure we're all excited to see where they take their characters. With what we do know I feel like these are the 3 most likely comics to be adapted for the Justice League's first team outing. Primarily, Throne of Atlantis and Justice League: Origin are the most likely candidates for adaptation considering how well they introduce the characters and bring them together. We'll just have to keep our eyes peeled for more news as shooting for the film continues.
