[Star Wars: Episode VIII](tag:711868) may be over a year away but that doesn't mean we can't get excited? With the film already in production, fan theories and rumours are already circulating the net.

Thanks to Daisy Ridley's Instagram we can at least confirm one thing for Episode VIII. Rey will be kicking some serious ass. With her career just taking off following her big screen debut in The Force Awakens, the actress is hot property and is already allegedly being courted for a lead role in the upcoming Lara Croft reboot.

Recently Ridley has been keeping us updated with her gym schedule, and among the hectic sessions it looks like she's been honing her sword technique. Alongside acclaimed stunt master Liang Yang, Daisy Ridley looks set to be doing some serious damage in the forthcoming Star Wars: Episode 8.

Although not explicitly naming what film the prep work is being done for, it's pretty much a certainty that we can assume it's for Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII. That being said, it looks like the next chapter of the franchise will begin to explore the fighting side and sword mastery of Rey.

We'd already witnessed hints of Reys fighting spirit. Most memorably in her battle with an injured Kylo Ren, who like us wasn't ready for her natural talent with a saber.

Perhaps this will be the result of her training by a certain Jedi master by the name of Luke Skywalker. We last seen the pair reuniting on a remote island with Rey offering Luke his old lightsaber, after tracking down the now reclusive Jedi.

Thankfully, we won't have to wait 2017 for our next trip to the Star Wars universe. December 14, 2016 see's the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The story will follow a group of resistance fighters (Felicity Jones, Diego Luna) who embark on a daring mission to steal the Empire's plans for the Death Star.

Unfortunately... We're going to have to wait until December 15, 2017 to find out what happens with Rey, Finn and Poe...
