In case you haven't heard (*heavy sarcasm*), Game of Thrones is back, and to give us a break from all of the super-serious speculation articles flying around the internet at the moment, I decided to dig through the vaults and find out what some of the more seasoned stars were up to before they wound up in Westeros.
A lot of the younger cast members like Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington and Maisie Williams were pretty new to the acting game when they landed their roles on the show, but some of the others were practically veterans already. Check out their transformations below.
1. Pedro Pascal — Oberyn Martell
Played a student in a Season 4 Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode, "The Freshman" (1999).
2. Sean Bean — Ned Stark
Played Boromir in the Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001-03).
3. Peter Dinklage — Tyrion Lannister
Played Miles Finch, the children's author who beats up Will Ferrell in Elf (2003).
4. Lena Headey — Cersei Lannister
Played Gorgo, Queen of Sparta in 300 (2006).
5. Charles Dance — Tywin Lannister
Performed a cross-dressing dance number in Ali G Indahouse (2002).
6. Jack Gleeson — Joffrey Baratheon
Played a little boy in Batman Begins (2005).
7. Alfie Allen — Theon Greyjoy
Portrayed by a puppet in the music video for big sister Lily's song, Alfie (released in 2006), in which he is accused of laziness, drug use and excessive masturbation.
8. Rose Leslie - Ygritte
Played Gwen Dawson in ITV period drama, Downton Abbey (2010).
9. Rory McCann — Sandor Clegane (The Hound)
Played Lurch in Simon Pegg's Hot Fuzz (2007).
10. Jerome Flynn — Bronn
Performed as one half of '90s singing duo, Robson & Jerome, with fellow actor Robson Green.
11. Diana Rigg — Olenna Tyrell
Played James Bond's wife Tracy Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
12. Michelle Fairley — Catelyn Stark
Played Hermione's mum in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010).
