Not even being a mega star can eliminate the indignity of having to apologize for your embarrassing, scandalous or shameful fuck ups, but there are a plethora of different ways of going about expressing your regret.

Below are some of the most memorable celebrity apologies ranging from good to bad, to cringe-inducing, but who do you think is being deeply sincere?

Shia LaBeouf - Plagarism

What Happened? LaBeouf’s short film HowardCantour.com was an almost exact adaption of a graphic novel by Daniel Clowes of Ghost World fame and when it was posted online in 2013, fans instantly noticed the similarities and called the star out for his copy cat ways.

The Apology: After he had been outed as a plagiarist, LaBeouf apologized — by plagiarizing a random person on Yahoo answers. Yes, really.

Shia's final apology to Clowes came in the form of sky writing over LA, but this was the beginning of his performance art era so who knows what he was trying to achieve with his bizarre behavior.

Reese Witherspoon - Drunk And Disorderly

What Happened? I'll let the video below speak for itself.

The Apology: Reese appeared on national news to apologize for her intoxicated behavior when she was arrested, she told interviewers:

"It's one of those nights, you know? We went out to dinner in Atlanta, and we had one too many glasses of wine, and we thought we were fine to drive, and we absolutely were not. It's just completely unacceptable, and we are so sorry. And embarrassed. And we know better, and we shouldn't have done that."

Witherspoon went on to explain that there was no excuse for her erratic behavior and express her regret at disrespecting hard-working police officers, she said:

"I have no idea what I was saying that night, I saw him arresting my husband and I literally panicked, and I said all kinds of crazy things. I told him I was pregnant -- I'm not pregnant! I said all kinds of crazy things. ... I'm so sorry, I was so disrespectful to him, and I have police officers in my family, I work with police officers everyday, I know better. Yesterday I spoke to them (police officers) again, and said there's no reason to be disrespectful to a police officer. I think, all I can say is that I was just panicked."

Hugh Grant - Soliciting Sex With A Prostitue

What Happened? Hugh Grant was arrested in Hollywood and charged with indecent conduct with a sex worker in a public place after picking her up on Sunset Boulevard. He was in a relationship with Elizabeth Hurley at the time of his arrest.

The Apology: Shortly after the arrest, Hugh apologized for hurting those he loved by saying:

"I did something completely insane. I have hurt people I love and embarrassed people I work with. For both things I am more sorry than I can say."

The British actor also made a concise apology for his behavior on the Tonight Show in 1995:

Johnny Depp & Amber Heard - Breaking Australian Quarantine Laws

What Happened? Depp and his wife Amber Heard were prosecuted for violating Australian quarantine laws by smuggling their two Yorkshire terriers, Pistol and Boo into the country.

The Apology: Read all about it and watch their bizarre apology video HERE.

Steve Harvey - Announcing The Wrong Miss Universe Winner

Yes you do, Steve, yes you do
Yes you do, Steve, yes you do

What Happened? Harvey announced the wrong Miss Universe winner live on TV and you can watch the whole excruciating blunder in the video below:

The Apology: As well as awkwardly rambling through an apology of sorts on TV, Harvey took to Twitter to grovel some more.

Kristen Stewart - Affair

Kristen with Rupert

What Happened? Do I really need to spell that out again? Unless you have been living under a lichen covered boulder in deepest, darkest Alaska, even your dog, cat or pet goldfish will know about Kristen Stewart's highly publicized affair with director Rupert Sanders while she was still in a relationship with Twilight heartthrob, Robert Paterson.

The Apology: Stewart's simple apology really captured how devastated she was to hurt Rob so publicly, she wrote:

"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."

Justin Bieber - Pissing In A Mop Bucket And Cussing Out Bill Clinton

What Happened? I'm just gonna leave this here...

The Apology: Well, I guess you can almost call it an apology.

Bieber also reportedly called the former president to apologize for his actions in person.

Mel Gibson - Anti-Semitism

What Happened? Gibson was arrested for driving under the influence with an open bottle of booze in the vehicle and then inexplicably decided to blame his own dire life decisions on Jewish people with the now immortal words:

"Fucking Jews... the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world. Are you a Jew?"

The Apology: Gibson apologized for his deeply offensive comments in 2006 with a letter to the Anti-Defamation League that read, in part:

There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who thinks or expresses any kind of Anti-Semitic remark. I want to apologize specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words that I said to a law enforcement officer the night I was arrested on a DUI charge.

I am a public person, and when I say something, either articulated and thought out, or blurted out in a moment of insanity, my words carry weight in the public arena. As a result, I must assume personal responsibility for my words and apologize directly to those who have been hurt and offended by those words.

The tenets of what I profess to believe necessitate that I exercise charity and tolerance as a way of life. Every human being is God's child, and if I wish to honor my God I have to honor his children. But please know from my heart that I am not an anti-Semite. I am not a bigot. Hatred of any kind goes against my faith.

Should celebrities feel obliged to apologize for their indiscretions?
