Headlines across the planet are alight with conversation surrounding Beyoncé’s Lemonade after the visual album was streamed and debuted by HBO for 27 hours straight. And thanks to the TV drop her genre-transcending album is eligible for an Emmy.
Per Variety's report, HBO plans to submit Lemonade in the variety special category and thus continue Queen Bey's journey towards total world domination. If the social media and critical reaction to Lemonade is anything to go by, it looks like Beyonce could add a shiny Emmy to her increasingly crammed trophy cabinet.
The album features numerous lyrics which fans suggest are aimed at Jay Z and a myriad of cameos including Serena Williams, daughter Blue Ivy, and youngest ever Oscar nominated actress, Quvenzhané Wallis.
If you missed the stream, fear not. It's available on iTunes for $17.99 a pop, or via her other half's music streaming platform, Tidal.
As Variety points out, whether credited directors Beyoncé and Kahlil Joseph will be joined by the album's additional directors — Melina Matsoukas, Todd Tourso, Dikayl Rimmasch, Jonas Akerlund, and Mark Romanek — is so far unclear.
