The Flash rarely pauses for breath, and as Season 2 races for the finish line, the introduction of another classic DC Comics villain seems certain to give Cisco Ramon and the S.T.A.R. Labs team quite the headache.
Avert your eyes at this point if you don't want spoilers for Episode 20.
Season 2, Episode 20 is titled "Rupture," which pretty much lets the cat right out of the bag. Here's the official episode synopsis from The CW:
Zoom arrives back on Earth-1 intent on taking over Central City. Barry and Wells come up with a plan to stop Zoom once and for all but it’s extremely dangerous. Unsure if he should take the risk, Barry reaches out to both fathers for advice.
Meanwhile, Cisco is shocked when he vibes the Earth-2 villain Rupture, who happens to be his brother Dante’s doppelgänger. Rupture came to this Earth seeking justice for Reverb’s death. Iris decides she’s finally ready to open up to Barry about her feelings for him.

As comic book readers will know, Rupture is the brother of Reverb, Cisco's Earth-2 doppelgänger — meaning that, in a really twisted sort of way, Cisco is effectively fighting family if and when Vibe comes to blows with Rupture. That's bound to be a fun dynamic, especially given Cisco's own historical tensions with Dante (Nicholas Gonzalez).
Right now, the introduction of Rupture has the look of a one-episode arc designed to keep threat levels at S.T.A.R. Labs high while Barry, in need of his speed, consults both Joe and Henry about the wisdom of putting himself at the center of an orchestrated particle accelerator accident.
If it gives Cisco a chance to vibe and fight a few old demons, I'm all for it.
In the DC Comics, Rupture — actually the elder Ramon brother Armando, rather than Dante — is a super-soldier trained on Apokolips, and he has quite the reputation. Cisco and the gang are going to need everything they've got if this adaptation of the villain is faithful to the page.
We'll see Cisco and Rupture face off when The Flash 2.20 airs next Tuesday, May 3 on The CW.
