It's official! FOX has pulled the trigger and ordered a new series reboot for 24 called 'Legacy'. The show will be 12 episodes and will stay true to the 24 hour episode storyline. Additionally, unlike 24: Live Another Day, this show will be an ongoing series.

Here's what we know about the upcoming series:

24: Legacy Will NOT Be A Jack Bauer Story!

That's right fans, this new reboot will not be about our favorite hero, Jack Bauer. Legacy will introduce a new hero, former US Army Ranger, Eric Carter who turns to CTU for help when his past comes a-knocking with a plot to attack the homeland. Eric Carter will be played by The Walking Dead's Corey Hawkins.

The show has also cast the following actors/actresses to star in 24: Legacy:

1. Jimmy Smits

The NYPD Blue, Sons Of Anarchy, and The West Wing veteran is a great addition to this cast.

2. Miranda Otto

The actress makes such a great fit for the new reboot it's almost perfect. For those that don't know her from Homeland, she was also the butt-kicking shield maiden from the Lord of the Rings movies. Yep, that's Miranda!

CW fans will be happy to know that 24: Legacy will also star the following two familiar faces in key roles for the new reboot:

3. Anna Diop

That's right, the Messengers actress will play the wife for lead character Eric Carter! Stepping up Anna!

4. Teddy Sears

Flash fans are going to go crazy when Zoom reincarnates as the new Head of CTU! Teddy is perfect for this!

So what about Jack Bauer?

Last we saw the former US Special Forces and Head of CTU, Jack Bauer was surrendering himself to the Russians in the heroic fashion that he is known for. Although Kiefer Sutherland has moved on from the role that revitalized his career, he has made it publicly known that he would like to see some closure to Jack Bauer's life. We are happy to report that the Hollywood icon will be an executive producer for the reboot. Sutherland told TV Line:

“I have no idea if the [24] movie will ever happen, or Jack Bauer might end up finding his way into an episode one day and clarifying all of that, or ending all of that,”

Sutherland was recently tapped to play The President of the United States in the ABC pilot Designated Survivor.

Whether or not we'll see what happens to Jack, there is no question that the subject of what befell the iconic hero will have to be approached somehow. In any case, fans of 24 will be happy in 2017-2018 when 24: Legacy is set to air.
