The Transformers films have definitely been entertaining for the majority of Transformers fans. The franchise has not been afraid to create its own history and mythology behind the robots in disguise. News was reported shortly after the release of the fourth installment that Mark Wahlberg would not be returning for movie the fifth movie. This led to speculation on who we could see step in as our primary human protagonist. Well, The Wrap is reporting that the new lead has been cast and, even more interestingly, will be a female.
Isabela Moner is reported to be our new lead for the Transformers film franchise. Here's a brief description from The Wrap of her character:
Izabella, a street-smart tomboy who grew up an orphan and was raised in foster care. She counts a small Transformer as her only friend until she meets heroic inventor Cade Yeager.
If this reported news and description is true, it is likely that Wheelie will be her Transformer ally, as he is small and has been popular with fans since his introduction in the second film.
If this all does turn out to be true, fans could be set to see a different style of Transformers movie. The film series has also been criticized for its lack of female lead characters, given the only three female Transformers appearing in the franchise were killed off in their first movie appearance.
With this report coming out, we can expect to receive more information on production soon. This will include more casting decision, the vehicles we are set to see and, even more importantly, the iconic Transformers they will turn into.
