If you're looking for a hi-tech futuristic weapons manufacturer, or have a spot of terraforming you need doing, there's one company who'll get the job done: The Weyland-Yutani corporation.

The official Alien Facebook page shared this awesome picture with just a simple caption:

The mission begins.

Fans are getting het up for Alien: Covenant or "Prometheus 2, or whatever it’s called now," as Sigourney Weaver recently called it, and this little photo hint certainly gets the imagination running. Sure, there are no cast or creatures in the shot, but we now know for certain that the merger between Weyland Corp β€” as they were back in Prometheus β€” and the Yutani Corporation will have been completed by the events in Alien: Covenant. This helps to establish a timeline.

Wey-Yu will be building better worlds, and building/financing the crew aboard the Covenant. If you look closely at the badge above, you may spot a certain similarity to Biblical myth, and therein another astronomically successful film franchise β€” The Ark of the Covenant, as popularized by Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Maybe it's not only Blade Runner that supposedly shares a universe with the Alien franchise?

I don't know about you guys, but it's been four years since Prometheus came out, so I'll definitely be rewatching it before Alien: Covenant hits. While Michael Fassbender will be returning as David, we know that Noomi Rapace won't be coming back as Elizabeth Shaw, despite the possibility for her return being left open at the end of Prometheus. Refresh your memory of the movie and get thinking about what could happen aboard Wey-Yu's Covenant. Some more incredible monsters from the imagination of H.R. Giger, of course...

Alien: Covenant hits Earth August 4, 2017.
