Zombieland was so well loved, it's hardly surprising that horror fans having been hoping for a sequel for the last seven years. Our hopes were briefly raised by the under-watched and under-appreciated Zombieland TV series, which was abruptly cancelled after only airing the pilot episode in 2013.

However, things seemed to have turned a corner for Zombieland 2, as Bloody Disgusting notes:

Various casting sites are reporting that 'Zombieland 2' is targeting to begin filming in Atlanta this coming August. This by no means confirms production will commence, but it’s another sign (the first being the logo on display at this month’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas) that the studio is moving forward with the long-gestured sequel.

No word as yet on whether we'll see stars Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin return.

Would you prefer to see Zombieland 2 keep the same characters or get totally new ones?
