The celebrities were out in full form on Tuesday night at the TIME 100 Gala in New York City, and among them was the elegant Melissa McCarthy. Not only was McCarthy a TIME 100 honoree, an amazing achievement in itself, but she also brought the whole night home by looking absolutely stunning.

Melissa owned the red carpet in a beautiful ice-blue blouse and high waisted pencil skirt. The outfit was a custom creation made by McCarthy's go-to stylist Judy B. Swartz. The Ghostbusters actress capped off the look with Celine heels, Neil Lane jewels, a Jimmy Choo clutch and her winning smile.

Out on the carpet, Melissa chatted about her upcoming appearance in the Gilmore Girls revival series on Netflix, telling US Weekly about her return to the set. "I went back and visited about two weeks ago, and saw the sets again and everybody on them, and it just felt — oh, my God, I get so sentimental," the star gushed. Going on to say, "it felt like the greatest idea in the world. It was just lovely. It was just lovely."

But Melissa didn't only steal the show on the red carpet, inside she gave a hilarious and inspirational toast, thanking all the pioneers who "simply forged ahead" despite being told they were crazy along the way. "None of you have picked the easy way," the actress told her fellow honorees. "There are a lot easier ways to do this than what you’ve all done, and I think we’ve all benefited from it greatly. I think we’re all grateful for it. I just want to say thank you for just going your own direction."

Well said, Melissa!

Melissa McCarthy's next film, Ghostbusters, will be released on July 15. To read director Paul Feig's piece on TIME 100 honoree Melissa McCarthy, take a look over here.
