After tragically losing her father, Greg, to cancer earlier this year, Vanessa Hudgens has opened up about how she has been coping with the sad loss thanks to the support of her mother.
In an interview with People, Hudgens revealed that her mom, Gina, really helped her work through her grief. "She's so strong through the hardest of times," the 27-year-old said. "But she has this lightheartedness and this light that just beams out of her very being and it's so special. Life is about perspective. The way you choose to see your life is the way your life is going to become."
But despite her support network, obviously the time since her father's death has been a rollercoaster of emotions. "There are highs and there are lows. It sucks, but death happens," the former Disney star said. "It never makes it easier but it happens to all of us. It's just something we have to get through until we all meet again in heaven."
Even though 2016 has been a trying time for the starlet thus far, thanks to her strong role model, she's learning how to cope. "My mom looks out through such beautiful eyes. I've learned to follow her lead."
